I went to Zillow to look at houses in suburban LA and the thing that really confused me are these 1.5 million dollar, 2000sq ft houses that look like hot fucking garbage on the inside. If you can afford a 2 million dollar home, you can afford to spend a few hundred bucks at a shit hole like hobby lobby to at least pretend you tried to make it look hospitable.

Your assumption is people have a choice.
Most people can't afford to pack up and move (because of no spare income thanks to "charging what the market can bear").
You're lucky if you have any prospects, few thousand, and anything you can carry on your way out.

You make rent, or you're homeless, one way or another.

i mean... my roommates are all friends and they make enough to pay rent with 2 days of work. these aren't high tier jobs like medicine or anything either, this is people working at cvs pharmacy/catering


though i found maggots in the trash today from all their chipotle so maybe this is my breaking point for evictions.
