No clue if he'll implement it, but elon's openly musing about getting rid of hashtags.
Well anything he can do to prevent trending I guess. He really is a narcissistic piece of shit.
Elon Musk explicitly supporting the explicit premise of the "great replacement theory", Jew-engineered and all.

Twitter dying realistically isn't a good thing, as while it's degenerated into a bot-infested cesspool of right-wing misinformation and censorship relative to their views, it still has legitimate purpose for individuals socially and commercially. The only benefit of a new service, assuming it matches and exceeds Twitter's features (not that this is a particularly high bar when we realize most modern social media is just stripped down forums that had better functionality 20+ years ago), is that you could hypothetically weed this sort of stuff out from the start. However, doing this also demands actually putting manpower into the effort and not just half-assed algorithms that don't account for manipulation or false positives that a reasonable human could otherwise differentiate from. The idea of codes being some sort of MVP pass into social media utopia isn't really doing it, since all it takes is one bad apple getting their hands on one and eventually using that to propagate their own in the future by laying low until enough of them are around to, again, manipulate and abuse the system. A new location also lacks the social penetration as a go to hub for the earlier mentioned legitimate benefits, so it may seem like it's not working, or worse, people you'd like to get in can't because you don't have (enough) codes. This is probably the biggest rub of Elon's takeover and his various bumblings, but also why everyone else seems to be sticking to the "Formerly known as Twitter" subtext when referencing X. "What the fuck's a BlueSky?" is probably the first question you get from most not really on the cusp of internet trendy and it's probably going to stay that way for a long while if it doesn't eventually die off due to disinterest and not really fulfilling that promise of being "good twitter" again.
All of this before you get into the oppression of ad services and various political demands of the service's use in various countries, where we pretty much know Elon's bent the knee for bad actors just to keep their ad money flowing. Because, again, tanking your investment's worth by being a petulant man-child certainly invites such desperate measures.
Musk has filed a pretty blatant SLAPP suit against Media Matters for exposing the amount of white nationalist content on Twitter.

Yeah Greenblatt and the ADL are about Zionism first and foremost. "Combating antisemitism" is often part of that goal but can easily be overlooked if not in the interests of Israel.
