One of the random thoughts that would make Apple make that demand is a new porn filtering law Utah passed (but won't take effect unless 5 other states adopt identical laws), but yeah, they are essentially getting Tumblr'd.

Real answer - Lewd/NSFW/Porn used to be okay/tolerated on these platforms, and now its not. We have a tangible thing being taken away, its a step in the wrong direction even if we never truly broke free of that puritan grip, it felt like we were making slow steps forward.

I think they're just moving more towards it being a SFW site or changing the expectations towards a non-smut medium. The only reason why I don't think society is moving backwards is because of shit like onlyfans becoming so typical with. everyone.
