I've come to realize that when Musk or someone right leaning says they support free speech they don't mean the 1st amendment they mean the ability to say whatever they want without consequence.

From a law perspective the 1st amendment "recognizes" free speech, it doesn't grant it. It's going off the supposition that free speech is a right that's present immediately at birth by god/nature.

i think most people understand the "its a private business" thing at this point, people talk about free speech and the first amendment they mean the spirit of it really i think, and perhaps it should be applied to public squares as large as tiwtter i think that's the argument right?

If the deal falls through it'll be due to Elon almost for sure.

If the shareholders or something involved with Twitter's current leadership tanks the deal it will be a landmark and extremely controversial moment in corporate takeover history
