Bot followers on twitter is pretty much all about what you tweet and how frequently they sweep. If you're low, you're probably lucking out on not using specific target words. I know pretty much any art streamer has to be cautious because they'll either get bots trying to scam them or overtly trying to steal their work.

Then sometimes you just get silly bots nerds put up for fun. "There are four lights!" indeed.

<word><many numbers> names are usually a good indicator, but occasionally you'll get stolen accounts, too. I can't even say googling their avatar/icon is a safe bet anymore since AI generation is getting good at making fake faces, too. Middle-aged white guys with sunglasses on seems like one of those common bot tropes, too.

Just got this pop-up from Facebook. Basically they're going to lock me out unless I agree to their two-factor authentication.

It looks like they've been doing this since March and it's not foolproof.

The program, according to Facebook, is a “security program for groups of people that are more likely to be targeted by malicious hackers, such as human rights defenders, journalists, and government officials.” It’s meant to do things like ensure those accounts are monitored for hacking threats and that they are protected by two-factor authentication (2FA).

Those who did not activate Facebook Protect before their deadline are apparently getting a message explaining why they can’t get into their accounts and offering to help them turn it on. However, it’s not always working:

Instagram will be issuing three measures to determine if users are under the age of 18.

Instagram on Thursday said, starting in the U.S., if a user tries to edit their birthdate from under 18 to over 18, they will have to prove their age in one of three ways:

• Upload their IDs, which are deleted within 30 days.
• Record a video selfie that will be reviewed by Yoti, a company that uses facial analysis technology to estimate age and then deletes the video.
• Ask three mutual followers who are at least 18 to confirm the users' age, an option Instagram calls social vouching.

Erica Finkle, director of data governance at Instagram-parent Meta, told Axios the new age verification system is only for users attempting to edit their birthdate to make them older than 18 for now, but could be expanded in the future.
