Let's be honest, forums aren't really coming back as the conversational medium of the internet. Reddit is probably as close as that ship will ever sail and they almost go out of their way to make the experience deliberately worse than it should be. Of course, it's also a bastion of cuckoo.

Something is always going to (need to) exist, but between controversy getting clicks and the digital world basically being enslaved to advertising, a truly good platform will likely never happen. I just grow weary of the misinformation and bile twitter so easily perpetuates, with FB not far behind.
