Have a verified Twitter account with the check mark? Sources state it's going to cost the account owners $20/month to keep it.

Honestly, I'm down with that.
There are so many people out there that see a blue checkmark and will take anything from that account as fact. Requiring at least some level of investment into it to keep the checkmark will theoretically weed out some of the troll/misinformation crowd.
The problem is that its also used to acknowledge actual accounts of famous people.
But those loons can already get their accounts verified

The directive is to change Twitter Blue, the company’s optional, $4.99 a month subscription that unlocks additional features, into a more expensive subscription that also verifies users, according to people familiar with the matter and internal correspondence seen by The Verge. Twitter is currently planning to charge $19.99 for the new Twitter Blue subscription. Under the current plan, verified users would have 90 days to subscribe or lose their blue checkmark. Employees working on the project were told on Sunday that they need to meet a deadline of November 7th to launch the feature or they will be fired.
I forgot the point of this whole mess wasn't just to buy a controlling stake in twitter but to make it private. Can't wait to see Tesla prices drop as he's selling to cover these birds losses

good i hope he drives the godforsaken website into the ground
Maybe that's his plan, make it a total loss and a $44B tax write off.
Might be giving too much credit though.
Big Palpatine UNLIMITED POWAAAAAAH vibes right now
I just deactivated mine. No sense in staying.
I'm not at all surprised to see that the people sucking Musk's dick the hardest have intense overlap with support of Trump and/or libertarianism.

It's the social media equivalent of video games shifting to the microtransaction model. Stay tuned for tweets that can be paid to show on top of searches, get different backgrounds to stand out more, allow more images and longer videos, have to pay to block DMs, make multiple circles, get an edit button, etc..
