    Shocker
Midryan doesnt understand the difference between "employee" and "owner".

When the company doesnt make as much money as was projected, do employees get paid less than their agreed upon wage/salary?

They get fired when it's bad enough.

Feel like the whole "essential worker" phase of covid and subsequent demand for higher wages amidst record profits was a sign that workers don't have the power they should. Instead, no one wants to work anymore, I guess.

That doesnt change the fact the employer must still pay the employee whatever wages were agreed upon, and failure to do so can have them taken to court. “Your honor we didnt make as much as we expected and this had to be reflected in everyones pay” wont fly as a defense.

Not to say it's never happened, but as I said, people will get fired before that point.

Your misunderstanding over a simple situation has lead you to create an irrelevant response and attempted insult.

Literally the convo. Theres nothing to misunderstand. How else can "Profits are just unpaid wages" be understood to mean anything other than what is written?
    Shut the fuck up.

Your answer demonstrated a lack of comprehension by responding "duh, owner and employee lrn da diff." No humility expected from you though, naturally.

I already know how this will be answered since "capitalism bad" but if companies aren't supposed to make a profit and all "profit" is redistributed to the employees, why would anyone want to run a business if they're not allowed to make money from it?

There's doing well, and then there's doing extremely well, but we'll fire 800+ people anyway like Blizzard did. There's gotta be an acknowledgement somewhere that an end of the year pizza party or maybe a small bonus check isn't enough, if they get even that.

Frankly, I'm for a sliding scale of how much the lowest paid worker gets relative to the most, dependent on how many people are employed in total without loopholes like claiming to be an independent organization contracting another group, etc., so you could avoid the split. But we're also fighting against things like 40+ years of minimum wage not keeping up with inflation, tax evasion and cuts for the wealthy, exploitation of the higher education system, decline of infrastructure, rejection of remote work when applicable, union-busting rhetoric and laws, and so on. Fixing one without fixing all can easily make it all tumble.

So there is a real issue in how concepts are framed and thus understood. Which goes back to the conditioning from the education system and what has overall been instilled into the public consciousness.
Surplus is the output of workers beyond their inputs, aka work. Profit is surplus taken by a person or entity for personal gain. Rather than back into the actual business, workers, and economy/community. Which exemplifies the lack of democracy and mass inequity that exists in the workplace. Ironic, given the common high regard for democracy in general, but the common narratives are levied against it in the workplace.

Under a democratic arrangement of the workplace, aka Socialism. Profit is decided upon collectively in how to maintain the business/production, wages, grow economically for the sake of further profit, funding R&D, advertising, etc. Which is not a pipedream or utopian. It exists, and is/has been done.

Everything a company like Apple or Amazon has or made is not due to one figurehead or investors reaping the greatest reward, but because everything the company has and it's existence itself is due to the collective work. The profit is unpaid wage for that work in a parasitic relationship.

One of the most common excuses for this is that X takes the risk as if the worker does not have a greater one or more precarious situation. Regardless of how silly it is to frame it in such an unrealistic, narrow, and bias manner. It still doesn't change the underlying reality.

For example, why are rail workers legally not allowed to strike and forced back to work as essential by Congress? Well, because they are vital to the country, obviously. Why then is such vital infrastructure in private hands and not nationalized? Why do these private hands get to go literally make PowerPoint presentations gloating about their windfall of profit by granting no sick days to "essential workers"? Represents a political and moral failing atypical of the purported values of the nation and it's people.

Not surprised, reading doesn't seem to be a strong suit of yours.

This time it actually was paragraphs, and you actually gave the correct number. D+ for effort alone.

How would you know if I answered it though?

there ya go. i for one would love to watch a collective of min wage workers democratically figure out how to save prevent a company from going under during bad economic times.

So let me get this straight:
The kid flipping burgers at McDonald's should be getting paid as much as the manager who has to do all the managerial shit, as the owner who footed the franchising bill??

I wonder how Spicy's utopia will have any businesses when no ones gonna pony up the initial investment to start a business when profit is illegal and needs to be given to employees.

You know that shit that people get pissed off about? The "were gonna promote you, give you new tasks, but your pay wont change"...yup thats Spicy's utopia, for everyone.
But wait, does that mean when someone new is hired, everyone has to take a pay cut as well? Since the "profits are split evenly"? Oof, brutal.
