I work with and visit all types of people and I've never been corrected about pronouns. And yet, many media places will tell you its running rampant everywhere and especially in schools. If the next generation wants to fucking use pronouns then whatever dude. The fake outrage from both sides is fucking retarded

From my experience, people who want unique pronouns used have them literally pinned to their chest.

I have decided since were using made up words and characters for pronouns, my pronouns are god/god.

I feel awkwardly about the seriousness with which we treat gender issues these days because I grew up in a society adapting to the victories of second wave feminism, which more or less boiled down to asserting that all sex-based differences in social treatment were abhorrent, purely-social constructs. Preconceived expectations based on perceived (female) sex were the enemy of second wave feminism.

Then in my adult lifetime people took back the concept of gender and leaned into the idea of there being at least 2 genders (typically 2 and points between, although some are more creative with their gender distributions and/or math) that do have preconceived meanings and you get to pick which society sees you as.

If gender doesn't matter, then I don't care what your gender is and don't mind accommodating whatever you want for the sake of politeness, but this all just seems more complicated than going back to a Ziggy Stardust-optimism about gender obsolescence and letting anyone wear skirts, pants, or leotards if they are feeling it. I am willing to do some work to exist in a society and politeness is the grease that keeps the machine of humanity moving, but wtf why not make it easy?

I am basically just along for the ride at this point and I look forward to finding out where we go from here. Things have changed so much within my lifetime and hopefully I am not even half done.

The people that push back against they them usually tend to be the older folks who are like THAT'S PLURAL. I can understand that grammatical attachment, but I can't fathom what grievance a nonbinary person has with it

third person: he/she/it, they

So for English the third person singular pronouns are the only ones that convey a gender (male/female/neutral above.)
