Firstly, if you don’t think service economy employees are a marginalized group you need to check your privilege.

Second, I am not making statements about trans people in general, I am referring to a very specific set of people, trans or no, that use pronouns and the like as a cudgel. They are actively hurting the cause of trans rights by turning away hearts and minds, and any serious ally would acknowledge this rather than whitewash it as “well everyone is shit to this group of people so they get a pass”

These are my sincerely-held beliefs, thank you. I spent 20 years in various positions of the service economy and saw all manner of degradation and predation upon my coworkers. I, as a straight white man, was spared from the truly worst of it, and though I was finally able to get out, I will always defend those still in the trenches against anyone.

Your argument is against a straw man, besides. “Please don’t falsely accuse me of insulting you, then go directly to my boss and attempt to get me fired, which would likely result in me being homeless” is an extremely low bar to clear for every member of society, and it is eminently reasonable to hold everyone to that standard, trans or no.

It's sometimes impossible to not make a statement about the trans community online because undoubtedly one has to come in and make everything about them, related or not. It be like if I complained about "the fucking bourgeoisie, guys" at any possible turn. I don't because I at least have a little more sense than that.
