We should not keep on looking at ourselves as the world's police force. We should not be providing arms and sustaining wars. We should providing aide and shelter to people who seek to escape it.

If Syria used WMDs on another country we'd be having another discussion (See Iraq gassing Kuwait). But in this case its the government gassing their own people. We should be helping people simply get the fuck out of there.

Instead we've only let in 11 syrian refugees into the states this year and we're gonna bomb the shit out of their country.

I agree with you here. From a financial and moral standpoint I am very very tired of playing police to people who already hate us and don't need a further reason to teach their children that we are the devil.

To your first point, you're right. The void will likely be filled by someone who isn't ideal or close to it for our interests.

To the second point, definitely not but we would not be the country of first resort for everyone on the planet.

Honestly, I'm too drunk at the moment to properly articulate my argument but these points are semi-close to my beliefs.

look, id love to say our world ambitions are akin to that of sweden (just an example), being pretty much "leave us alone and we leave you alone" with no bases in other countries, not having the world rely on us and our decisions to move us into the future, but thats just not a reasonable expectation at this time, it is definitely something we can work towards and strive for, but today, no, we are what we are and we need to act better about our situation

Syria is a dump to be honest I don't honestly get why its worth fighting for at this stage since Retarded State's been ground down. Russia is there only because of its bases.
