The real issue was no one wanted to make games for it.

The PSP was an absolute disaster in terms of game sales because how easy it was to hack and pirate games, and even after super locking down the Vita at launch the bad juju stuck in publishers minds.

Yeah last time I checked a few months ago PSP still has a pretty lively home-brew community. Shit held me down in Iraq 06-07 with an assload of pirated games and old school emulation.

Unfortunately, the Japanese consumer base doesn't care about any of that, and that's who Nintendo designs their products for. 4k? Who in Japan needs 4k when they're all mobile gaming?

That fact that the rest of the world gets enjoyment out of the systems is a happy bonus.

Until recently Hades was Switch/PC only. They just now announced it for PS4. Maybe some other indi style games, but nothing AAA exclusive that isn't a Nintendo IP like you listed.

The Mario and rabbids game was good, and is on sale at GameStop ATM I think. Paper Mario was good too. I say good and not great for both cause they're good, not great.

Hades is great on switch, can play it anywhere and the game is perfect for that pickup and play style. But exclusives? Idk man, just first party stuff tbh so there's a million and one flavors for you. Fire emblem was GREAT if that's your jam.

Oh its damned true! You aren't wrong in the slightest. Its only when internal sales aren't enough to keep the lights on for studios and companies that the problems show up.

This specific problem is NEVER a Nintendo problem. The WiiU doesn't count, because no one bought it, not just the Japanese.

greatest game developer in the world with hardware that varies from innovative to dogshit, but always appeals to casuals. gameheads can't pass on them because of their exclusive library, casuals flock to the accessibility and low point of entry. working out for them financially.

Nintendo's current cash-on-hand is apparently $16.4B. They have no debt and about $5B in liabilities. There's absolutely no reason for them to not do whatever they've been doing.

Nintendo has 0 incentive to cater to anyone outside of their domestic market on this.

Still the absolute king at sleep mode life. My Switch Lite on the other hand...

Actually it's been aggravating as I've been bouncing between Ys 8 on my Vita and Astral Chain on my Switch the past month. I pretty much have to charge the Switch Lite after every session or it'll need charging anyways by the time I get back to it 2-3 days later unless I fully shut it down.
