an old smelly shoe with new shoelaces

Comic is assuming cookies are still good, which is an assumption we can't and shouldn't make about the new switch.

Is the current Switch good? Yes. Then I don't see how slightly upgraded switch will be bad.
during the Wii craze all these same core gamer types hollered endlessly IT'S JUST A GAMECUBE WITH MOTION CONTROLS while spec measuring Nintendo's hardware against the 360 and PS3. here we are two generations later unable to tolerate it still
that new color is pretty spiffy
Current switch still has drift issues, don't know why they need to make another switch without fixing the broken shit on the last one. Also if the price is higher than the current price for the same powered hardware, I'd call that bad.

tech advances, and the Switch is reaaaallyyyy starting to show its age. personally always felts the joycon mobile experience was fairly bad, drift is unacceptable, and paying an updated price for the same archaic internals is tough to stomach. emulating Breath of the Wild on PC and getting 60FPS with shaders that smoke anything the Switch can handle is an illuminating experience.
i'd say in anno domini 2021 the Switch is not a good console, unless you're just desperate for a mobile console as all the others are dead. it has great games, and was evolutionary in design, but was semi-outdated by the last gen, and is humiliated by the next-gen. we're talking about a console that is outperformed by a 2013 Xbox One, and they just raised the price of it to add a LAN port and half an inch of screen.
but Nintendo fanboyism is what it is i'm not sure Nintendo could ever do anything to garner criticism from that section of the vidya world
