First time truly playing Prime, had an extremely brief session on Gamecube back then.

I should say...technically this is a brilliant remaster, probably the best I've ever seen. It looks, plays and sounds just like a current gen game. No one could've convinced me this was a remaster of a 21 year old game if I didn't know.

It's pretty much a complete redo on the visual side of things while using the original source code as the base. Heard a lot of speedrunner tricks still work, so that may imply they stuck with the original collision meshes as well?

My body is fucking ready for that Prime 2 Remaster, especially if they update the OST. That game's score was... incredible. What an atmospheric and badass game. Its amazing how on-brand the majority of Metroid games have been, and well of a job they do in establishing the "but it must be you, hero!" trope in their narratives without seeming gauche or tired.

Metroid Fusion and Dread were ESPECIALLY good at this, as was Prime 3. If it wasn't Samus doing it, NO ONE ELSE COULD. Hell, fuckers TRIED in Prime 3 and look where that got them.

That just shows how strong the narrative arc is throughout the entire series when even the worst game in the series narrative makes sense in terms of stakes.

These motherfuckers tried to make a Mother Brain clone that could control not only Omega Metroids, but literally every biological creature (and technological if she accessed the machinery) on the ship, gave her complex emotions, then decided to royally fuck her over and thought that A) she'd be fine with it because she's "just a machine" and B) thought they could actually stand a chance in a fight against her.

The Galactic Federation are the dumbest motherfuckers around, yes, but its also true that Samus is largely the only person out there that can clean up their (and other's) messes. If she fails or doesn't show up in every game, bad things become HORRIBLE very fast.

Nintendo does not expect to launch any new or upgraded Switch hardware in the coming financial year, set to end on 31st March 2024.

That's according to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, who spoke with investors this morning following the company's most recent financial results (via Bloomberg).

Hopefully whatever the successor to switch is will have some sort of backwards compatibility with current switch titles;store purchase;etc. but given Nintendo's track record lol get ready to buy it all again if you want to play it all in one device.
