Something is starting to not make sense.

They're holding fast to this 15M claim, but now say that could be a stretch. Why not revise it down and take the bad press? Saved by the Mario movie? Why not still revise the Switch numbers down to 13M, come in at 13.5, and then spike the ball for both figures coming in over expectations?

I don't know how they could manage a new Switch SKU without some form of update internally or claiming it is new hardware to push toward that 15M figure. If they're just not ready to talk about new hardware, theres a few better ways to say that in corporate speak than what they're doing.

Hopefully whatever the successor to switch is will have some sort of backwards compatibility with current switch titles;store purchase;etc. but given Nintendo's track record lol get ready to buy it all again if you want to play it all in one device.

Wii was backwards compatible with gamecube, 3DS was backwards compatible with the DS. I believe the Wii U was also backwards compatible with the Wii. Since they moved away from cartridges, I think the only system that wasn't backwards compatible with the previous gen was Switch due to the change to SD card format.

They've invested too much into NSO and the revamped EShop to not have purchases be carried over for now.

Only Wii's up to a specific generation were backwards compatible. I know cause I had one of the newer Wiis that couldn't play Gamecube games.

I have no doubt theyll do it again in the future, im just saying for now they probably wont.

That was fairly late in the cycle when they also released the Wii Mini. First 3-4 years, all the consoles were backwards compatible.

For the Switch game vouchers, is there a cut off date for when they can be purchased? Since you've got to use them within 12 months of purchase I'd use one for Zelda, but I'm not sure if there's anything coming out in the next year that I'm for sure going to be interested in. Pikmin is a maybe, but that's about all I can think of for the rest of the year.

No? Okay then.

Not saying get your hopes up, but the reboot announcement was four years ago and Nintendo has given a number of games release dates that were surprisingly short (although, in most of those cases, it was an announcement and release date reveal all at once).

I'm not saying it's happening, but I don't think it would be completely out of the picture.

I don't think they can even mention Prime 4 anywhere at this point unless it's also accompanied by a date that's within a month of the announcement.
