Huh, didn't know they made a new throwback TMNT game. Surprised they kept with the April I grew up with and not her current design in the cartoons.

Shredders Revenger is specifically styled after the designs of the 80s/early 90s
Nintendo is still waiting with the Switch 2 announcement, meanwhile there's a ton of leaks appearing everyday and currently companies are even showing their peripherals for the console at CES:

8 years is a great lifecycle for a console, probably 9 years by the time the Super Switch actually comes out. You gotta remember a console ages like 10 years for every 1 human year, though you can try to extend that with a healthy diet and activity.
Switch was a super smart move in seizing the god knows why abandoned handheld market (still can’t believe how Sony fucked Vita up). This time around they’ve got a serious PC handheld competition though. Each day a new handheld console is popping and they are actually getting pretty good. I expect Sony to get back to the market sometime in the future as well with a non-cloud device. We’ve all seen that all they have to do is to build a device that can play the current library decent enough for instant success, something between PS4 and PS5.
That said, I am still expecting strong sales and massive success for Switch successor as long as they keep it simple, maintain the dock/handheld formula and secure titles like FFVII Remake, which I believe they will. Win-win for SE, Nintendo and likes.
Plus you can never underestimate the first party superpower of Nintendo.
Hand helds tried to break Nintendo's hold and failed at every aspect, even if they were arguably better. Instead, they just shifted to the console and then PC market, and the later is finally circling round back to hand helds with the Steam Deck, but that's a bit of a cheat since it's just a gateway to play your whole library PC, and not a proprietary game system with exclusives.
Yeah, Steam deck hit the winning formula w/the whole PC library. If Sony ever returns back to handheld market they must develop a system that’ll be able to play/inherit their entire console library (with adjusted graphics of course), basically a non-cloud portal. With skyrocketing costs and games getting way too large it’d be too optimistic to expect developers to work on handheld exclusives along with their console counterparts.
I don't think Steam Deck has huge # of sales though? Still seems pretty niche compared to something like the Switch
Valve is a niche company, they've got low headcount, hence less fixed costs and view hardware like Deck and controller as a way to increase game sales rather than direct competition to Switch. They lit the fire w/Deck, now starting to license Steam OS out to others, potentially making all pc handhelds a part of their ecosystem.
This is the path Sony and Xbox follow as well. Rather than competing with Switch directly(they'll lose if they ever attempt to do so) use handhelds as a way to strengthen their ecosystem. Rather than Portal vs. Switch it should be more about Playstation vs. Switch.
I imagine mobile gaming is also a factor. A lesser experience to a Switch or Deck in all ways, sure, but making a game here and there for Android/iOS is less costly than R&Ding a system that'll probably sell for a loss while hoping its library is also sufficient. The unfortunate acceptance of mobile moneymaking tactics from gamers is also Scrooge McDuck money for CEO sorts.
Price point matters too. A steamdeck or ally is double-ish the cost of a switch, with arguably a worse form factor. The portable PCs are much heavier, bulkier, and while easy to use are not as easy as popping in a cartridge and off you go.
Switch has a better screen than most portable competitors, and the controller feels better than any portable PC imo. Along with a better price point it's hard to talk down on the console when it receives most of the games everyone else gets, on top of exclusives the others don't get.

So more sources are claiming an honest to god reveal of Switch 2 sometime on the 16th. No games are reported to be showcased, and it likely wont be anything more than "this exists, this is what it looks like, stay tuned for more".
Reset the clock. Maybe this 3 year long ride is finally over.
i find it far more comfortable as well, with better and more tactile ergonomics. that said agree with Maya, Valve is pursuing an entirely different strategy than Nintendo and comparing them directly is missing the forest a bit. Steam Deck and its ilk will likely have minimal impact on Switch 2 sales. i mean these days Sony and Microsoft are barely direct competitors with Nintendo, who have broken off their own console space that contracts and expands primarily by the accessibility/cost/innovativeness/exclusives of their own products rather than by what their old rivals do.
FF Remake is already rumored to be on course to Switch 2 in 2025, I consider this a giant win for both SE and Nintendo. Given the quality of Rebirth the game deserves a much better commercial success.
Also according to the Fnac leak(it is a giant electronics chain in Europe) RDR2 is expected to be a launch title. Same leak says it’ll retail for 400 EUR.
FIFA is already on board.
Pretty good I’d say.
Honestly looks great and exactly what a sequel to a familiar form should look like. Totally not a shock like Wii U was compared to the Wii.
