From the picture I seen it looked like people were review bombing other SMT/persona games, but couldnt see the details since the tweet was deleted.
What game did they want to come out?

They prob wanted a Persona 5 Royal port to Switch, which I'd think would be neat too, but review bombing SMT games in "retaliation" is some stupid cringe shit
Supposedly also on 4chan people bitching that SMTV is a switch exclusive and not for PS4, so people are crying about that as well. So yeah, fan boys being fan boys.
If U were a true SMT fan, you had a 3DS.

For some reason the tweet still loads on my phone lol, so here's a screen. Anyway, it looks like it was deleted cause the person claimed that Nintendo fanboys review bombed SMT games cause they didn't get whatever it was they wanted from the direct. Instead, supposedly those scores are from 2018 when Joker was released and are from SMT/Persona infighting?

Smash news, Metroid, Beyonetta 3, probably the biggest things that I can think of. For me personally it was a waste of a direct since nothing really interested me for this year but not enough to rage at Nintendo or anything, maybe SMT 3/5 if it wasn't so far off. With SMT 3 getting a staggered release I am not so hot for it right now.
It seems that this direct, based on the confusion of insiders such as Jeff Grubb and Kelios, is that this was part 1 of 4 or 5 for Nintendo's E3 conference.
People were expecting a news download, since Nintendo has literally nothing on the calendar. Kelois flat out stated that Bravely Default 2 was supposed to have a release date announced. People are upset that it was 10 minutes and the people in the know are confused as to why it was only 10 minutes when 90% of what they know or heard is coming was absent.
There is a laundry list of things that SHOULD be present, heavily implied to be coming soon, or vaporware that's recently been teased by Nintendo themselves.
Bravely Default 2
Metroid Prime 4
Bayonetta 3
Pikmin
Star Fox
F-Zero
Mario HD Collection (64, Sunshine, Galaxy)
Mario 3D World Remake (potentially with Galaxy 2)
Smash DLC Pack 7 and 8, off chance at 9.
Some project involving Donkey Kong
And that's just the 1st party stuff. So far SMTV has finally shown up, and the surprise is SMT3 remaster. It's thought this is the "weak" stuff and that we should see more of the gems if this becomes a weekly or bi-weekly 8-12 minute direct series.
If its true that is part 1 of 4/5, then they should announce/news update on some of those big hype titles that they have been working on for awhile with each direct, maybe 1-2 per direct, just to avoid having one dud of an direct. But instead we probably going to get 1-2 of those videos where they info dump all the hype games all at once and the rest will be middling like this one was.
Didn't the announcement specifically say it was for smaller developers? Could have sworn I saw it on Twitter when people were up in arms and people telling them they only had themselves to blame and the direct wasn't going to have anything first party related.

It literally said it in the announcement tweet that it was for previously announced "partner" games. I'm assuming that meant 3rd party dev.
And that is why I think they made the announcement before hand to try and keep people from expecting the major titles, but people will always find something to rage about when it comes to these kinds of events.
You're missing the point.
Most major insiders had wind that a direct was coming. They obviously didnt know the contents, but with everything else they knew that was on the confirmed/highly likely list it was supposed to be a big info drop.
And then Nintendo made the announcement and confused those in the know and angered those that were not.
And the announcement said "Nintendo Partners". Sora LTD, Retro, and Platinum are all technically Nintendo Partners just as much as the smaller devs.
There is a lot of speculation too that the games in this direct were under contract to be announced by Nintendo before the end of July, hence just rushing them out there
I've heard that Atlus has a contractual obligation to only release Persona games on the Playstation, which is why P5 never showed up on XBox either. Joker in smash being an obvious exception as the contract is just for the game, not the character, and since Scramble isn't a mainline game, they could put that on the Switch instead.
Well that's clearly not true seeing as they just put Persona 4 onto Steam
