More rumors are surfacing of a new Switch model. Supposedly this one will have better processing speed and 4K support. Along with the new model Nintendo will release games for casuals and hardcores.

Nate Drake in his podcast has said a Direct WILL happen on Friday. He is hedging in the content a little bit, saying that if an announcement comes Wednesday/Thursday then it will be a general but if not then its likely a larger shadowdropped Mini Direct. The hedging likely is more tempering any potential blowback from missing the mark that Kelios and others received after the Partner Showcase more than lacking potential content announcements.

Also, to not expect this to be the full E3 replacement (which many still think has been chopped up into the partner showcases, Paper Mario, Pikmin 3, etc), but that this will still have 1st and 3rd party titles.

Everything seems to line up well too. If Nintendo wants to get a new version of the Switch out next year along with games for it a direct soonish would be the best time.

Though in that link I posted when they say games would be coupled with the new console I wonder if they mean complete exclusives for this "pro" console or if the game could detect if it's on a regular/lite system and adjust settings accordingly.

I have a real hard time believing Nintendo would announce a Switch Pro right before the Holiday season - one that should be a big one for them - only to release it right after the holiday season without discounting the Switch/Lite right before the Holiday which would also be a headscratcher. Keep in mind a lot of retailers are going to be antsy to start holiday pushes earlier with Covid still looming to help pad some financials.

Also, why would you want a new console release right up against the other 2 non-direct competitors? Unless you have enough stock to guarantee no bad press while the others suffer shortages and bad P.R.

I have no doubt Switch Pro is coming...just not within the next 6-8 months.

This will probably be more of an extension to the lifespan of the console, Switch is currently on fire in terms of popularity after all. Several AAA titles like Witcher could run better on Switch and will probably get updates to do so. Its also going to be easy for Nintendo as they are simply going to upgrade the gpu.

I believe we will have this update quite soon, holiday season against the giants is a possibility as they will have the freedom of not being a direct competitor , significant price advantage and great popularity.

Idk man, any taxing game I play on pc or stronger console and I full doubt they're gonna make first party titles that don't run on OG switch.

If I wasn't a enthusiast consumer I might be interested, but I only got this thing for the first party titles and those will likely not be affected by this.
