Little did they know 2020 had the plague, not robots
Nintendo plans to release the pro version of Switch in September-October, according to Bloomberg.
Hopefully we get more news on specs. As nice as 4K docked sounds I'll need something else to convince me considering my PC monitors beat my TV resolution by a hell of a margin
According to the rumors Steam is also aiming for holidays release for its handheld device so there will be competition this time around.
That and like the PS5/Xbox I expect scalpers
Chatter seems to be building about a Switch Pro announcement very soon. Days. If not day singular. Sounding more and more like Nintendo wants the E3 board clear to be games only.
Ok switch experts. I want to get a switch for our family this Christmas but I'm obviously not going to wait until the holidays. I don't want to worry about supply issues or whatever. It's mainly for my 7 year old son and I to play so I don't care much about 4k etc. Just The game library. Any reason not to snag one this summer and just hide it away?
Snagging one anytime by fall is probably smart.
Get a Pro controller too. Fuck them joycons.
Off the top of my head I cannot think of any reason unless Nintendo has more up their sleeve for what the Pro specifications will be assuming it's not another hoax.
Also need to agree Roranora, Switch pro controllers are on the costly side but better than the joycons in every way except for something like Splatoon 2.
Jason Schreier doubled down on "Switch Pro Announcement Today" before the Sonic direct, and immediately deleted it.
For Rulke: Theres been a odd tone shift just today with the Switch Pro stuff implying that the older Switch will be phased out and it'll just be Switch Pro and Switch Lite. Not sure if you want the docking ability for just a larger screen or better framerates, but you may just be fine with Switch Lite without having to mess with the dock.
If there is indeed a phase out of Switch Regular, the Switch Pro will likely suffer from the processor shortages but not as badly as Sony seems to be. That might be a reason to grab one now over waiting.
Package acquired. Thanks gents. The controller info was nice too. They had all sorts of different styles and the like, he'll love it.

Amazon Mexico has a listing for New Nintendo Switch Pro.
https://www.amazon.com.mx/dp/B0962N2JZW/
Edit: Link has now been nuked, by Amazon's Mexico's dog named "Bowser".
Nuking the link only seemed to lead to the discovery of multiple other Amazon Mexico leaks involving Nintendo's Switch.
Spanish news site Vandal has apparently leaked a whole write up on the new Switch.

Basically confirms a lot of what was rumored, but the highlights are:
Increased screen size due to removal of bezel and upgrade to OLED screen
Kickstand improved to run along the entirety of the console unit and not the thin kickstand (Surface Tablet)
New dock, 2x USB 3, 1x Ethernet port. Dock is slightly larger in back
Micro SD moved from bottom to side, still under the kickstand as a cover
No changes to system overall size to allow backwards compatibility with joycons and other peripherals
A European launch may be delayed until November due to supply issues. NA/Japan expected around September.
Gonna make sure I pre-order this, I never did get my hands on an original Switch.

Edit: False alarm. May just be a renewal for This guy.
