Just saw this pointed out on the infowars TOS, in section 19 about publishing articles.
https://www.infowars.com/terms-of-service/
You will not post anything libelous, defamatory, harmful, threatening, harassing, abusive, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, racially or ethnically objectionable, or otherwise illegal.Remember: you are a guest here. It is not censorship if you violate the rules and your post is deleted. All civilizations have rules and if you violate them you can expect to be ostracized from the tribe
Diverse opinions and ideas are one thing. It's another when you claim an entire school being shot up is staged and constantly harassing the victims is another. Same with pushing the idea of a pedo sex trafficking ring being housed in a pizza parlor to the point where an armed person goes to said pizza place and causes a major incident. Never mind the fact how many times Info Wars has doxxed people but will ban you if you do it on their site.
You're basically asking if private institutions should be held to the same standards as public institutions after reaching a certain size and ubiquity. Honestly, given a lack of public will to build public alternatives to these institutions, I believe they should. But you have to remember that even public libraries ban books.
Eyyyyy it's all noninterference in private enterprises until they censor a dangerous shill for the dumbest conspiracy theories ever proposed
You laugh you lose.
Spoiler: show
What's happening to Jones isn't justified solely because "free speech" as a right is protection only from government, it's because the cultural value of free speech still imposes standards. You can permit a diverse range of ideas, even offensively bad ones, and still demand integrity and intellectual honesty.
So far no one is getting banned for saying poor people deserve to live like trash because they were born poor and if they can't bootstrap themselves out of poverty that's not society's problem. It's a reprehensible viewpoint, but even companies well within their rights to purge that speech will likely tolerate it on their platforms out of commitment to the free exchange of ideas.
But Jones is not just pushing a viewpoint, he's peddling a false narrative. He says verifiably false things holding them out as truths to deranged followers with his right hand while exculpating himself legally by saying it's a parodic act on his left. He is committing actual acts of defamation and libel. Slander and libel are explicitly not protected under free speech for a reason. And he is being punished for that by having platforms taken away to avoid amplifying his noise.
so how do we help that naomi wu person?
Find her a Patreon alternative that works in China and won't scare off American consumers I guess?
I've been following Naomi Wu on Twitter awhile and there's not really an alternative that she can use in China. It's to the point where she has to tell people to chill on trying to help her. She's currently sponsored by some Chinese tech company and also makes money doing some programming on the side so she's fine for now. She's actually gonna be in NYC soon for the the first time to be part of some amateur tech convention.
Aside from being beautiful, (although she's a little too skinny imo) she's a pretty dope personality and would recommend following on Twitter if you use it.
I would argue the best way to help her now is to just leave her alone and let her get her Chinese audience back.
She's got a huge target on her back now and is effectively blacklisted by the US powers-that-be so I'd say she'd be a fool to bother arguing her case with the English audience anymore.

And now for an example of an actual call for censorship
Its one thing to be a garbage website that peddles useful commentary every now and then (*Cough* Gawker *cough*) but Info Wars should've been deplatformed a long fucking time ago.
In reality censorship happened a lot time ago because social media outlets use algorithms to determine what the fuck you should see depending on your activity and the ad profile facebook has created based off your own posting history.
And I agree with it. I just get a little nauseous when I see government officials calling for something to be removed.
If a company wants to take somebody down for literally any reason they want I'm cool with it. I just don't get on board with Big Brother himself deciding what you get to see on stuff Big Brother should have (almost) no control over.
But it's also terrible at it! Don't know how many times it's slipped stuff in there that anyone who actually looked at my post history could tell I wouldn't want to see and that aside it will be things I've actively clicked I don't want to see this multiple times. No thanks facebook I don't want to hear about some "natural cures" and I only want to see flat earth stuff in order to mock people in those posts
Just stop using it.
But I also want to laugh at dumb people in my feed. The struggle is quite real
Do something constructive instead. Shit's lame yo, don't miss it a bit.
I only ever really use Facebook for messaging people and occasionally drunk posting check-ins on weekends.
I call them the "alpha and omega."
