You are somehow conflating my understanding the company's decision with being sympathetic to some GamerGate bullshit. These things are not the same.

It wasn't even this, was it? She's generally not a public-facing employee. She'd been posting stupid crap on her twitter for years and her bosses didn't care. My understanding was that, in this instance, she continued an AMA-style discussion from ArenaNet's official forums on her twitter page and then blew up at the responses to it.

In other words, she temporarily took on a public-facing role, mixed in her private twitter, started talking shit, and promptly got hit with the leanstick by her boss. There was a whole sequence of bad decisions on her part that led to this outcome.

That's a good example of workers rights and a company protecting their worker. If you were bothered to read the descriptive response of anets president, his viewpoint on the matter is absolutely inline with riding between the lines of customer satisfaction and worker protection. The gist of it is, "if you are feeling harassed online or anywhere, let us know so we can record it and follow the proper procedures to protect you"

If we want to bitch about how the customer isn't always right (which I do agree with) that's fine. But price getting fired is not a good example of customer abuse.

I think that it's absolutely understandable for a company to conclude that what she did was out of line, and termination can easily be justified.

However I simultaneously think that she made this way worse for himself by blaming misogyny. Doing so sparked a Trevor's axiom by bringing the wrath of aggrieved males onto herself and SJWs to her defense. Had she not done that, I think she may have survived the snafu with a simple apology.
