Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines to merge in a $6.6B deal. Will close in late 2022.
The deal, valued at more than $6 billion, would leave Frontier controlling 51.5% of the combined airline and Spirit with 48.5%.
In a joint release, Spirit and Frontier said they expect the deal will allow them to add 10,000 direct jobs by 2026 without the need for layoffs.
The airlines estimate it will create $1 billion in annual savings for consumers.
Combined, the company would have annual revenues of approximately $5.3 billion based on 2021 results.
How is them merging going to create jobs without the need for layoffs?
Because it sounds good to constituents.
Obviously they're going to lay people off, that's how corporate profits work. They can't make money if people quit before you can let them go.
This is terrible for people who want a choice in shitty air travel.

So are your bags now going to go to 3 different airports instead of just 2?
Bold of you to assume they even left the original airport.

A cargo ship carrying luxury cars has been abandoned off of the coast of Portugal after catching fire.
Around 1,000 Porches, over 100 Bentleys, and an undisclosed number of Lamborghinis and Audis are currently onboard the drifting Felicity Ace, which was originally meant to transport nearly 4,000 vehicles from the German city of Emden to Rhode Island in the US. The ship is now currently adrift near Portugal's Azores islands.
Soon after the ship caught fire, the Portuguese navy was able to safely evacuate all 22 crew members by helicopter to Faial island on the archipelago, where they are recovering in a hotel.
The next phase of the mission is to recover the ship itself while causing the least amount of environmental damage possible, the navy has said.
Time to call up my somalian buddies and get some luxury cars.
tsk, calling Porsches porches.. come on now Vice
