I get that you are hard-set on "Democrats bad" but it was the Democrats signalling they weren't going to steamroll the negotiations that forced the railways to relent.

we sure it had anything to do with the railroads?President Biden expressed a mixture of confusion and anger
low hanging fruit, I know
You don't get it. It is easier to say you are bent on supporting the Dems as your only option. What sort of endorsement is "go ahead Union, we won't interfere against you"?
Biden can talk about getting it done all he wants, but it is white noise and PR. However, unless he takes credit for this and says what his administration's involvement was. Then there is no win for labor here by the White House. The mere fact that they almost had to strike to gain the right to take off for medical attention without retribution show just how dire a situation labor is in. That statement itself is utterly dystopian, and the fucking Democrats are complacent in letting it even get to this point. They ask for the vote of labor, give lip service to them, but they don't actually fight for them given the conflict of interest in doing so. The Dems cant serve two masters, labor and big business, and when it comes down to it they clearly side with corporate interests.
Lol, who knows. We are supposed to be thrilled that the best their party could muster is a sundowning geriatric well past his prime. That falls off his bike or falls on the stairs of AF1 worse than Bush. The only thing we need a pretzel at this point to finish the job. What sort of glowing endorsement is a guy who constantly expresses confusion or mixes up his words? There is absolutely nothing exciting about Biden, and he represents the Hillary people are sick of that got Trump elected.
If the bar can't be higher than a guy who should have retired that they hold up because "HEY, HE ISNT TRUMP1112211!!2211!" Then the Dems are hopeless.
Welcome to any leadership group?
What the Dems did (specifically Sanders) was prevent a Republican bill from being introduced that would have given the railroad operators everything they wanted in the negotiations.

Democrats doing good things is bad actually.

Lol
Literally in the midst of the most productive Democratic congress in probably 3 generations
The President steps in personally and makes it clear he sides with the rail workers, the Labor secretary negotiates, Democrats in Congress prevent Republicans from forcing the workers to completely capitulate, the workers get everything they asked for.
Meanwhile the owners would've been more than happy to let the strike go on and eat a few months of lost profits if it meant they could promote the staggering economic losses it would cause to help Republicans win in November and force the workers to eat shit come January.
Crawl out of your own ass.

cynicism or judgments masquerading as perspective is spicy, sure, but perhaps only medium spicy overall on the Scoville scale
I like how Biden's "support" of the union was to "be creative" and pressured them to "be flexible" to avert a strike—their only leverage—in order to avoid inconveniencing the White House with the economic blowback.

Have you ever been part of a union contract negotiation?
My point is that you absolutely have to be flexible with what you want going in. Biden advising them to chill the fuck out is exactly what you'd expect. It's good advice. You're not going to get everything you want, it's a negotiation, that's how it works.
That they couldnt take sick leave is insanity, that's a red line they should have had sorted out years ago. I dont know enough about (or much of anything else about) their old contract to comment more.
Realistically there is no wiggle room in being allowed to take time off for a doctor's appointment or in general without being punished. That's part of why it's so insulting. "Be flexible" while you are getting fucked along with "think of the economic impact" is bullshit.
Yeah I know. It's a redline item (and should have been from the start) but I have zero info on their contract history.
It's also doubtful that was the only item on the agenda.
