I mean they absolutely had a way to track time to be able to track how long they'd been around as long as they could remember.

I don’t disagree. It just struck me as kinda weird cuz she was conversing with a couple normies in prehistoric times super early into the film.

I had assumed they were important characters but turned out they were just a couple normal dude bros who perfectly understood the concept of a wrist watch a few millennia before it’s inception

    Okay, so

    Spoiler: show
For the mid-credit scene, Pip the Troll is a common recurring cosmic supporting character most known for being essentially Danny DeVito's character from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (there's a somewhat infamous issue of a comic where he temporarily has a cosmic cube and imagines all the things he might do with it, mostly turning every woman into a perfect 10 while making every guy a scrawny weakling, infinite beer and cigars, and making everybody in the universe throw him a birthday party), but also he has a connection to the Space Gem and thus can teleport wherever he wants. He was Adam Warlock and Gamora's sidekick for awhile, and has extensively been around Thanos.

Harry Styles is playing Eros, or Starfox by his adventurer name. To sum up a LOT of comic history in a short burst: There were originally only Eternals on Earth, but they had a schism and some of them left to go live on Titan (the moon of Saturn in the comics, not a different planet). My guess is that they'll alter this in the MCU to just say that Arishem had multiple teams of Eternals, not just the ones we saw. Anyway, the leader of the Titans had two children, Eros and Thanos. Eros went on to be an Avenger for some time, though he's been written out of recent comics since his power is to affect emotion, especially making people fall in love and have sex while under the influence of his ability. Honestly kinda wondering if they're gonna keep that or change it up somehow.

The post-credits scene is Dane Whitman about to touch the Ebony Blade. In the comics he's known as the Black Knight, and the sword is a relic from Arthurian times (they even snuck in a reference in the movie when Thena is wielding what turns out to be Excalibur). Also a longtime Avenger, the problem is that the Ebony Blade is cursed and amplifies all the most negative aspects of the wielder, which it feeds upon in exchange for giving the user all kinds of increased power. All of Dane's ancestors would have been previous Black Knights, and all were originally heroes who became murdering butchers after years with the sword. Seems like the voice was Blade asking him if he really wants to do that.

Like when humans/humanoids started using tools millions of years ago

I ain't seen it yet, but weren't they rather dormant until after the events in Endgame that shook things up? I think in 1 of the trailers, it's hinted that the events in IW/EG were the impetus for the Deviants to begin showing up (to Earth specifically).

No. Since this is explained at the start of the movie I guess we don't have to consider it a spoiler - the Eternals have been sent to earth 7k years ago to fight the deviants that were already active back then

    The movie explains why

Had a friend of mine tell me he hated it, listed all the things I enjoyed as reasons why.

I liked the movie. It did feel super compact. my only gripes were…. Sersi didn’t feel like she was this 7k thousand year old being thats super good at killing these deviants. She seemed like she was brand new at her powers and rarely did anything creative with it.

My other issue is that…. These deviants dont feel very threatening? Idk i think i would have made them crazier or more interesting in that eternals would be super good vs them. I would make want to make them feel way more special than….really tough dogs.

it definitely wasnt the worst marvel movie but it was odd. too many characters to develop and the 2 they did develop a bit (ikarys and sersi) were the least interesting. gemma chan is absolutely beautiful though so that was a plus. arishem looked pretty dope too

There was a line at the beginning about how 5 of the Eternals were made to fight Deviants (Ikaris, Thena, Gilgamesh, Kingo, and Makkari) and the other 5 ( Ajak, Sersi, Sprite, Druig, and Phaestos) were non-combative and more there to help mankind advance.

Actually that's why I take issue with a complaint I have seen:

    Spoiler: show
"but why were they helping mankind advance if they weren't supposed to interfere??" No. They specifically say they don't interfere in mankind's conflicts. And the reason why is a major plot point. Helping them advance technologically at a fast - but not too fast pace is a huge part of their mission. Tiamut needs time to gestate, and humans need technology if they're going to procreate at the rate needed.

Anyway, we see Sersi turning dirt into water to help with crops, stone into bronze - she wasn't made to fight Deviants so it makes sense she wouldn't be the best at it.
