At this point there is never going to be a Marvel flop. Enough people will go see anything they put out. I do agree however that was a weak trailer. Normally I'm happy showing less and not telling the whole movie in the trailer but there is very little information about anything this movie is about. I'm sure it will be at least entertaining but I definitely wouldn't say I am hyped.

Does your opinion take into the fact that this is just a teaser, not a full trailer?

The synopsis released in January 2020 covers slightly what this is about;

Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

Sprite ponders who will lead the Avengers now that Captain Rogers and Iron Man are gone. Ikaris boldly states, “I can lead them,” which causes the rest of the Eternals to break out in laughter.

Gilgamesh clearly is a master cook as he lays out an entire spread for the team to feast on.

The Eternals teaser opens ominously to the tune, “The End of the World,” performed by Skeeter Davis.

The Eternals arrive on Earth in a massive space craft.

Sersi finds Earth and humankind beautiful.

Phastos is able to create with his mind.

Ajak reveals their mission was to aid humanity, “We have watched and guided. We have helped them progress, and seen them accomplish wonders. Throughout the years, we have never interfered, until now.”

Thena is a skilled warrior.

Makkari has the gift of super-speed as she’s seen reading through a massive collection of books, as well as save a child from being crushed by a falling structure.

The romance between Sersi and Ikaris spans centuries.

Kingo is a Bollywood performer.

Sprite is a fan of karoke.

The Eternals’ powers appear as a gold energy source.

Yeah this was pretty meh. Dunno not much hype for a teaser. I'll still watch it opening night because I'm a sucker for Marvel's stuff, but I hope the full trailer is a bit more exciting.

Finding it hard to care coming off of Thanos and everything that he did. So, like, the deviants or whatever the fuck are worse than him for these dudes to get involved? Ehhhh, suurrreee. I'm guessing the Bollywood guy will be the quip machine, too.

So if this follows the comics in terms of Origins, the Titans are an off-shoot of the Eternals who left Earth after a falling out between two brothers, Zuras and A'lars, Thena's father and Thanos's father. Angelina Jolie's character is Thanos's cousin. I imagine that the Eternals are going to be heavily tied into exploring Thanos's backstory.

I... Was very bored by that trailer. As scenes in a movie, I'm sure they're fine, but it certainly failed to make me the slightest bit interested in the film. This movie needs to impress and it needs to do it hard to get people to see it, and this was a step in the wrong direction.
I look forward to being proven wrong.
