You should both try Hudson Valley Brewery here in NY if you ever get the chance. They make really good sours. They have a good body to them, as opposed to other sours that are usually fairly thin. It's not thick like a stout, but it's more than a Weisse or a pilsner. There is also some variation to them. They have orange/citrus, they use berries, they made one with grapes that tasted almost like citrus. They also make a sour IPA that's very good, though that doesn't seem to be either of your things.

They also have a Vanilla Porter that's been barrel aging for a while. Not sure when that ones supposed to go up for sale.

Dude I have. My palate just really hates it. I don't hate sour foods, just sour beers. I should also mention that I can't stand wheat/white beers.

That's too bad. Some are really good. Others are terrible. If you've had HVB then I can't suggest anything better. I'll let you know if I see them start selling that Porter, though.

I'm not a fan of wheats either. I'll get them every once in a while as a neutral beer to please the masses, but I never choose one over other options if it's strictly for myself.

Keep an eye out for Grimm's stouts and porters. They are pretty amazing. I've only seen them in bombers.
