More Forsaken details;
- Gambit will be Ranked
- Gambit ranks are called Infamy and work like Crucible Quickplay (rank points even if you lose)
- Once Gambit players hit level 50 fame with Drifter, he will offer a weekly bounty for a powerful engram
- Clan Rank 3 will give players increased resilience when teamed up with another clan member
- Clan Rank 5 will give bonus resources in the Reef
- Clan Rank 6 will reward a Masterwork Core with the weekly clan engram
I think I was talking to Kas about this the other day, and there was this thread on Reddit asking for a ranking system for strikes like Crucible has, and it made me realize, Infamy, like Valor, is completely pointless. At the core, ranks in competitive game-modes are supposed to identify which player has higher skill (although given how terrible comp is atm, I think it might be more a measure of masochism..). But when you have a rank that goes up regardless of win or loss, it's just a measure of which player is putting in more time. Especially if Infamy doesn't have a reset feature, which I don't think they've mentioned anywhere yet, then it is even more pointless as everyone who plays it consistently will hit max rank (and if there are weekly bounties connected to it, I can't see it being that hard to hit max).
If they wanted to create a system where players had to play a certain amount before unlocking the weekly bounties, the TTK Crucible questline that unlocked those weekly bounties was a far superior model. I know a lot of people cheesed their way though those in Rumble with friends, but I thought that questline was one of the best ways to get better at PvP. Do you not know how to play control? Guess what, you have to win (eventually just play, but that's a different discussion..) like five matches! You're not very good with a hand cannon? Well go get a bunch of kills with one! That questline was designed to force players to learn about Crucible game-modes, try different things, and ideally get better in the Crucible.
Especially given that Gambit is a completely new game-mode, having a questline that forces players to complete specific tasks to unlock the weekly bounty seems like a much better process than hopping in and playing till rank fifty. I was doing a Spire run a few weeks back and we got to the final encounter and wiped because two of the people who got the retainer buff had never done that role before and therefore didn't call it out. These were people with multiple Spire clears, but they had never learned the mechanics outside of what they always had done, and therefore assumed someone else would cover that role. If you don't force people to learn how to do things, there are a lot that are more than comfortable sitting back and doing the bare minimum while others pick up the slack -- and with Gambit being a completely new game-mode with a competitive component, people need to learn all the ins and outs.
Now I get that Destiny players a whiny/elitist and I'm sure Bungie didn't want people to not play Gambit because their rank was too low or deterred because an elitist wouldn't play with low rank players, and so I get not having a win/loss based system, but again, then what's the point of Infamy?
anyone free and want to kill some Redux missions or shit?
Took 15 games to get the 5 wins on Warlock. All I have left now for that set are the missions and Nightfall (and just Nightfall for Titan set). I'm going to sleep, but I'll be on for a bit this afternoon if anyone needs help with anything.

No
Anyone want to do Whisper quest today?
I dunno when I'll be home today, but if I get back at a reasonable hour, I'll check if you're on and still need help.
Managed to get a LFG group to clear the mission and the Heroic on first go. Going for the chests now.
Congrats then -- you need to clear the heroic twice in the first week for the catalyst, the first to unlock it, the second time to progress it.
Yeah, up to 12% on the Cat now
Got the trials engram for the clan of anyone wants to grab it being the final weekend

Two reminders: First, today is the last day of Solstice. If you need to finish upgrading any armors or complete any of the bounties, today's your last chance. I'll probably be on this evening if anyone needs help (officially giving up on the Redrix grind.. can't seem to make much headway past 1600, and unless the new meta is very different, I don't feel like killing myself this last week of season 3............ ...sadness......).
Second, the weapon slot change is tomorrow, so be sure to adjust your inventory accordingly -- if you have weapons that are going to other slots, those will be sent to the postmaster, and if you're like me and only have a few postmaster slots open, items can be lost. I'm assuming that filling up my heavy slot on all three characters with rocket launchers, swords, and non-single-shot grenade launchers is the best course of action (I think linear fusion rifles work too, but there's only like three of them, soooooo..).
Just vault most of ur weapons...
Would if I had the space.
