This will also effect Whole Foods. The minimum wage in AZ is 10.50. My paranoia and corporate distrust tells me this is just to sate team members so they stop wanting to unionize. My biggest curiosity is how this will affect labor budgets. It's great that people are making more money but if it leads to cut hours (which is already a huge issue), more layoffs, inability to hire to meet demand etc then I can see the desire to unionize still there and it might get energized by said bullshit.

Also, in AZ, people at Trader Joes start out at 17/hr fwiw

Amazon benefits are pretty solid. Everyone has the same benefits, from my job to the guys in the fulfillment centers. When my wife and I did IVF, the benefits paid for $15,000 worth of meds and procedures. Her insurance from United Airlines was going to pay 0$ before we swapped her to mine.
