In addition to people who didn’t work in Michigan long enough or earn enough, unemployment benefits are not available to those who are self-employed, including contractors, freelancers and small business owners

Whitmer and her administration are trying to address that, said a press release from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

“The State is seeking solutions for self-employed workers and independent contractors who traditionally do not have access to unemployment insurance," the press release said. “The governor has requested that President Trump issue a Major Disaster Declaration so that Individual Assistance and Disaster Unemployment Assistance through FEMA may be made available to additional Michiganders affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

It is bonkers that it's less than a week away, and Newsom, Garcetti, and the LA County Board haven't even addressed it.
Last weekend Newsom said they'd have news Tuesday, Wednesday was the announcement of mortgage stuff from everyone but BofA (who's expected response was, deez).

More states have issued a shelter in place order, plus expanded unemployment coverage for contractors/self employed from the Fed. I fully expect a new record.

Michigan's site is now working for unemployment. There isn't anything clear cut for 1099 workers. I'm honestly not sure if I should just claim my last regular gig as my last job since technically I haven't worked a day for real estate yet. I haven't even been officially told of the business name because the shit hit the fan after my boss filed for his broker license.
