Wow. Gonna buy one.
Wow. Gonna buy one.
Hmm I'm suddenly intrigued.

More of the main stream gaming review places are a bit more positive. They admit it has some flaws but overall it’s being praised as the best AC game to date. The three letter company that is not to be named gave it a 9.2, the other spotty game review place gave it an 8. The metacritic score right now is 85.

I'm still unsure on this one. I stopped playing origins because it was simply too big. I can't see markers all over the map and not do them. I realized early on that basically every quest/marker was the same thing over and over and over and quickly lost interest. It felt weird too because I usually 100% AC games and really enjoy them.
I'm really worried Odyssey is going to involve the same bland quests as origins.
I don't think that solves the issue of bland quests though lol
Yeah I read about that. I'm not sure that would fix the issue either as I tend to be a completionist on these type of games. Even with the massive amount of collectables in previous games, it still didn't quite feel like too much. I think the main thing is that between syndicate and origins, the game stopped trying to be a single contained experience and started trying to be a game as a service platform to keep you playing way after you normally would stop. If I were younger I would play hell out of it (Here's to you phantasy star online), but now I'm older with more disposable income so I tend to want to fully finish games and then move on to the next. One of the few games recently that's kept me playing for an extended time is DQ11 and that's because it does an incredible job with pacing and not seeming repetitive.
So I feel like you gotta stop being a completionist and just finish the story![]()
My local game store broke the street date for the regular version. Guess I’m gonna try it today boys.
This isn’t really a spoiler because you can do it almost right away. Near your starting location is a GIANT statue of Zeus that is a viewpoint synchronization spot. Zeus is anatomically correct. Yes, you can hang off and parkour from his dick and balls. 10/10
"Assassin's Creed" without assassins and less present-day Animus breaks than ever before. This series is just getting better and better isn't it... -_-
I miss the days of the Ezio trilogy and Black Flag.
Unfortunately this is what a lot of people wanted after the Desmond storyline ended. I didn’t mind the present day stuff, even walking around in first person and having Shaun and Rebecca around was okay but you can tell they really have no idea what direction they want to go in with the present storyline and just seem to tack it on. I remember reading they had only planned for a trilogy (hence the Desmond storyline ending) but I guess with the success of the games they realized they could keep pumping them out every year and needed to come up with new present day content which a lot of people didn’t care for, and thus we have the current state of the series.
The out of animus sections have been trash since the end of Desmond’s story—even the stuff in AC3 was a slog in my opinion. I’m fine with more if it’s good content, but it’s been mostly filler and fluff the last few titles. If that’s how they choose to present the modern day setting, I’d rather have less of it.
The sailing portion—from the small bits I’ve played—are very similar to Black Flag. Sea battles, sea shanties, building a crew, upgrading your boat, etc.
