Wow that PC gamer score must be quite the blow after doling out it's highest score in like 20 years for BG3.

BG3 is not without its problems.

I'm not comparing the 2 by any means. They're 2 hugely different types of games for different people (or the same!) BGS games are not really my cup of tea, but if people love them and get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of them. I'm all for whatever brings you enjoyment. Comparing 2 different types of games is dumb. Just let people like what they like.

I will probably check this out down the line, on a sale or something. But it's nowhere close for a day 1 buy for me.

Lol, this is my favorite. I love being like "It's not free if you're paying for it" but yes I will more than likely consume it that way once I'm done with Sea of Stars, Phantom Liberty and a few other games.

From the reviews concerning PC performance seems like my laptop is going to be able to comfortably stay over 60 fps on max settings, pretty much all I was worried about.

This guy is a Bethesda game fanatic, covers mostly mod reviews and he said that in cities he had trouble maintaining 60 FPS and had a consistent 70 FPS while out exploring.

i just read the review and the guy says he played 90 hours for the review and the game is good enough he was down to play 90 more. like wat my dude how are u gonna rip through a 7.5 game for 180 hours?? sometimes i think the need to score everything does more harm than good and sites like RPS which review without giving a number are the way.

I mean, insufferable fanboys that refuse to acknowledge the faults of the games they idolize is a big problem in gaming discourse. I'd also say someone generally interested in mods will have better insights on issues and possible improvements through experiencing them in other games they've played.

If anything, I'd say we have a problem of seeing too many 90+/100 or 4+/5 kind of reviews, either because negative reviewers don't want to be blacklisted or we're just so starved for certain titles/genres/franchises that being harsh could mean they just disappear forever even if rightfully earned like Diablo IV.

I'd also like to mention that, while I agree with Bg3 being a 92/100+ game, not a single reviewer on these major sites got to act 3.

I think it was the late great total biscuit who asked why we use a 1-100 scale if only the top 10 numbers matter.

oh fans suck, know it's an unpopular take these days but i trust critics more than i trust fans (tho only really trust myself / pals / the odd thoughtful youtuber end of day).

and yuh at yours and Proth's point re ratings inflation, the fact Starfield's 88 is being seen as a super mixed reception while Sea of Star's 88 is seen as a triumphant achievement for 2D RPGs and Chrono Trigger reborn speaks to how dumb numerizing artistic quality is. the 4 star system for movies i don't hate a ton because it isn't granular and you're forced to use a wide range of it as there are only 9 possible placements, but the 100 point systems where nothing, ever, is given below 50, and everything major, ever, is between 70-100 is pretty stupid.

it hurts brother i have Game Pass so Starfield is just gonna be sitting there waiting but i'm balls deep in those two games myself + a Kentucky Route Zero run. haven't finished a fuckin thing in months besides AC6 and BG1. gettin overwhelmed by the vidya.
