I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

They're fine. Dune was about the quality of BSG. Children was a bit step down but still solid. Fun fact - never knew that James McAvoy was in this because this was prior to his role in Chronicles of Narnia Lion Witch and the Wardrobe.

Well this is obviously the best rendition of Dune. It's a film to make money. But it would be way more convenient if this was a 7-9 episode HBO series. There's way more money to be made on the big screen so a film adaptation it is.

Sound and cinematography was p damn good that I'm glad I watched it in theaters over HBO Max

it looked great, but it was kinda unwieldy and goofy as a film. also agree with the sentiment that some of the whispery/raspy dialogue was extremely hard to understand. can't speak to the faithfulness to the source material because i've never read the books

I just got back from seeing it..

I got food on the way home and need to eat so this is all I will say for the moment.

    A masterpiece!!

If you didn't see this in IMAX you didn't see it.

so i thought the music and sound was jarring and janky as shit throughout the whole movie. usually hans zimmer does a good job but meh

visuals were good. thought this movie did a better job explaining the bene gesserit's role in the arrakis prophecy than it's predecessors.

I went back and listened to the music a couple times. Its damn cool. in some instances he had the sound of like sand shifting as well the echoing voices in the back as part of the music. Really well done.

Not a good number for a 300M all-in movie, but a good number for any movie since COVID-19 so...

solid weekend given the context. 90 million worldwide (70 was expected) to raise the global total to 220 mill. should pass the all-in figure in a week depending on the HBO max licensing fee.

only in the U.S., internationally studios get more like 70% of ticket sales receipts so Dune being disproportionately popular abroad compared to the U.S. would help its budget concerns. and ye don't believe exact figures for the HBO Max deal have been leaked, or exactly what Dune's marketing budget was.

regardless, should be healthy enough all in all to justify a sequel / continue the franchising. his last flick in Bladerunner 2049 only took in 260 mill total on a slightly bigger budget and the studio still lined up to give him this movie.
