So just found out why my coworker didn't come in today. Apparently his mom has been getting worse and just died. Also other coworkers friend somehow fell down the Grand canyon last week

Got rear ended at a stop light yesterday by a car doing like 70. Pretty sure my Dodge ram is a total but haven't heard yet. It's a lease so idk how that works. The driver was arrested on scene and the passenger ended up intubated at the hospital, not from the accident but because they were both high on heroin or something. Idk if the dude lived I was interviewed by fatal accident investigator just in case.

Neck and back were sore yesterday but just stiff today but x-ray and CT were negative. My shoulder hurts like fuck today though because I think I slid down in the seat from impact and the seatbelt grabbed my arm instead of shoulder. They only did range of motion exam on shoulder though but it's probably just muscular. Just glad no one was in the car with me cause the back seats moved, baby was at home with Mom.

Man dont sign off on shit. Sue sue sue. You're gonna get muscle tenderness and spasms for a long time and none of that shit is gonna show up on tests like a broken bone would.

For car stuff the insurance can handle that fine, but for health stuff beyond what the insurance gives you the info for youllvneed a lawyer. On second thought a couple of heroin users might not be worth sueing, so it might come down to how much you can squeeze out of the insurance company.

A friend got totaled and flipped from a car accident, gf in the passenger seat. When it was all said and done they won just over half a million from it. Half went to the lawyer, but there was plenty left over for him to take it easy for awhile while they both finished healing, replaced both their cars, and he used the rest to start a business. Honestly I wish I was lucky enough to get totaled by a rich person lol.

Your insurance company will handle your vehicle, but anything else falls on you unless your insurance company is extraordinary. Of course it's going to be specific to your state but yeah, you're going to want that police report and get something filed, even if it's in small claims court. When you get the police report it will have insurance information on it. Call the carrier and verify if the policy is active. If so lawyer up. If not, small claims.

2 or 3 lawyers actually. Shop around for a good price cause this shit is pretty open and shut easy peasy when both other drivers were high off their asses.

I don't know how it is in your state, but in MI they will start calling you lol. I've been in a fender bender twice here, and each time i get 3 or 4 calls a week after asking if i have pain, etc.

Really? Last time I had lawyer it was worker's comp related thought they all just took 1/3 of the settlement.

I'm sure a lot of them will be similar in cost, but I believe you need to like your lawyer too. I've talked to lawyers that just rubbed me the wrong way so I went elsewhere.

Ah word. I guess once I get report I'll call the ones I know and maybe one or two others that are bigger.

I was taken in an ambulance right away so had no contact with driver, only know her name from the summons she got and cause the police called me to let me know she was released to family from jail. Probably wont have the report till tues/wedLast time I ever was in an accident I was rear ended by a dude and the damage was $600 but with a $500 deductible because he ended up being considered uninsured. We tried to do everything ourselves to avoid the deductible and insurance going up so we took him to court for it but after his judgement he ghosted and we never got our money. Was like a 2 year long process too. This time I said fuck it and called insurance right away to deal with all that shit, it was hell trying to find that guy and get his real address and such.

Anyone know what happens if a lease is totaled? Do they just pay it off and wash their hands of it so I gotta get a new car?

If you have a lease, then either as part of your auto loan payments or insurance payments, you have something called gap insurance that covers the difference of what you owe on your lease.

At least I'm pretty sure you have it. Its mandatory by law in Florida, but I'm confident its nation wide. It was offered as part of the loan when I got my car but I declined and get it through my insurance so I'm not being charged interest on the insurance.

Lease to own or straight lease? Idk if you'll get any compensation if it's a straight 3 year lease or something for the vehicle, would you have gotten anything when you went to return the car?

straight lease nothing when I return unless its worth more than I owe and try to payoff and sell.

As a straight lease I dont think you get any money back. Pretty sure I've been told you dont want to put money down on a lease for that reason.

Depending on your insurance, you may be able to get some for a down payment on a new car, but they will pretty much be dealing with the dealership to pay off the car from my understanding. I'm also thirding the lawyer up part.
