Major fire only like 2 miles from us.

Oh shit I didn't realize it was so close , I thought they had it under control ?

Are there talks of evacuation? If so don't take it lightly.

My own fail today was getting ready for work tried to open my front door..and the knob wouldn't turn. It has gotten stuck in warm weather before , older wooden door and the mechanism is old. Almost had to have someone come rescue me , but found some pliers and got it open but fuck time for maintenance to fix this.

My brother's wife's mom's place (brother and his wife live there) is a 1/4th a mile out from the evac zone. And the smoke is blowing all the way down to my part of the SFV. ugh I hate this smoke.

We are right across the street from the current evacuation zoneline. So we are all packed up and will leave instantly if they tell us to evacuate.

Sucks waiting to see whether we should stay or go, but I definitely will if they tell us to.

I think my niece's birthday party is cancelled for tomorrow. Every road to the house is closed. But they're not evacuated. I wonder how pissed my brother's wife is right now.

So fun times in up here too. So first you know how I was complaining about them shutting off power in the middle of towns with no wind and sometimes buried lines around earlier this week? Well they doing it again but for a wider area and more people this weekend. This gunna be like the rolling blackouts of the Enron era.

But what makes this oh so much better is a fire did start... and it does appear to have been started by a transmission line since it was having problems right before where the fire started. One that despite that area being windier than others (like 60 MPH gusts there vs 5-10 in some areas they turned off) and having a lot more vegetation and being up in the hills stayed on. Supposedly it's because transmission is sturdier than distribution and well it should be but given everything else was more of a danger and this supplies power from all the geothermal plants in the area to the state I'm thinking maybe profit had more to do with it. But wait it gets better because as it spreads to nearby areas they are having trouble fighting the fire because their power was cut. So they cut power to tons of people that in the end not only didn't help but hindered efforts AND still caused this fire lol

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot the absolute best part... the fire started near I shit you not Burned Mountain Road....

We were evacuated this morning. House doesn’t seem to be in any danger, but roads near us shutdown for emergencies only. Family and cats are safe at our friends’ house. Stay safe, California.

For the last few weeks I haven't been able to get my Disneyland app on my phone to work and with an upcoming trip in a few weeks this was becoming an issue. Oddly enough though the DisneyWorld one was fine. I must have uninstalled/reinstalled over ten times , cleared data and cache but nothing worked.

Today randomly try deleting the DisneyWorld app and suddenly my Disneyland app works again..wtf.

Well shit guess the fire is moving. Just got mandatory evac order for the next town north of me and recommendations for unincorporated area between just about 5 miles from my house. Seems they predict wind tonight to possibly spread it so evacing early

The real FWP here though is first they make my phone vibrate like a madman for the alert... and then 10 minutes later send me another one in Spanish.

Was able to go home today. No smoke, no fire, and no looters. Yay.


I think the kitten may have ptsd now though due to friends' kids carrying it everywhere. The other two cats were smarter and hid the whole time.

In some areas I'm sure but not here. Shit is calm as fuck... meanwhile we had 70+ MPH last fires. It was kind of crazy remember going to bed that night thinking shit was going to be all fucked up since hadn't seen winds that bad outside of a tropical storm. Boy I was right though not in the way I had imagined. Then again the fire is still up in the mountains fairly north of here and it tends to be windier up there to begin with. Checking the map though still hasn't come down or really spread much at all

In other news they are greatly expanding evac areas and warning ones and even closing roads to like 60 miles away from the fire and on the coast

And a real problem that is also kind of a fwp is they are now spamming me with all those. Like 6 different ones in 15 minutes and because it's using the emergency system it interrupts whatever I'm doing and forces me to check it. So if I was saying trying to text someone that I'm safe for the last 20 minutes they might think I'm not because I keep getting interrupted and my text not saved only to have it happen again

Also I'm officially on the line of a warning zone and now like 2 miles away from mando evac. Guess it's good I got my nap in earlier.

Well seems like this might have been a record winds. Hearing reports of 80 mph... and my part of town went from not even being in any designated zone with no warnings to part of another zone that they had jumped straight to evac no warning first... so last minute that the emergency text they sent and even the locations they listed on the website still said the old zone boundaries. So being 3 in the morning you can imagine most residents saw that and didnt bother to check the map that said otherwise... or if they did they did right away and well they didn't update the map for a good 30 minutes after the alert. Shit is a complete cluster fuck but finally escaped lol. Luckily already had plans for today and tomorrow our of town

Edit: well hits just keep coming. Event I had planned in San Fran today is canceled because Its windy? And then the one like 60 miles east of all this is cancelling because of this for reasons? Here I thought having plans decently away from it would be nice

Wife got tickets to a beer festival thing near us for this past Saturday. We get down there for the "VIP" time and there's a sign at the gate that says no kids of any kind. I've got my daughter strapped to me...

I mean to be fair most of these events strictly say in the terms and conditions no kids allowed. It's likely for liability reasons and the fact that it's not an actual restaurant or brewery and even then I admit that I don't see the need for them there. There's only one venue I go to often that I actually think is setup for it because they do have a kids play area setup and it's mostly outdoors.

I agree with the policy but still sucks that you didn't find out beforehand.

Did you check in with them? A lot of times I have found babies in carriers that are nursing are exceptions to the "no kids" policies.

Wow that's surprising because every event I've gone to here in the last two years that has involved alcohol of any kind had a strict policy regarding both and stated on their tickets and/or event page. In that case you might be able to dispute the charge in any event.
