Random Fail FWP Thread 2: Something, Something, Your Mother's a Whore.

Still just trying to wrap my head around it. Two weeks ago he was in the hospital for a couple of days. He had a blockage in a minor artery they couldn't clear, so they changed his meds as they felt that would loosen it up so they could put a stent in. They felt since it was a minor artery and he wasn't in pain, just easily winded he'd be fine at home for two weeks. Was doing fine and I guess around 4am he was snoring badly so his wife tried waking him up and asked if he was ok. He sat up on one arm, said something she couldn't make out so she called 911 and was dead by the time paramedics arrived.

66 years old and outside of a few stents was in excellent health. Hasn't smoked in probably 15+ years, exercised, wasn't overweight.

Came back from Florida and on top of everything going on , turns out my car was rummaged through. I know I locked it before I left. Nothing of value taken , seems it was a quick opportunistic chance. Things were tossed on my passenger seat and floor and maybe about $10 I kept stashed in a compartment that is always closed taken.

Ironically if they had popped the trunk would have found more things of value so thankful in that regard. Just a shitty week..

Edit : Just realized this morning my work uniform shirt , secure key card , badge and belt were taken. Had to file a police report and waiting for them to arrive now. And then have to replace everything, FML.

Not my fail, but a friend just had a week that would go well in one of those bad luck books.

Started out their kid got hit with COVID, has to stay in his room (He is 22).
Father got metal (A few pieces) stuck in his eye, had to go have emergency surgery to get it out.
The Sump Pump went out on Monday.
AC Went out on Tuesday.
The refrigerator broke on Thursday.
Friday, some kids vandalized their boat with spray paint.

I've never seen so much different shit hit a family in such a short amount of time.

Was eating when someone knocked a little after 9PM. The guy said he was delivery or something, started slurring his words. Wife and I asked him to leave, causing him to become belligerent and start knocking continuously. Called 911, dispatcher heard the knocking, said they'll send officers.

We live in apartments, BTW. Looked out my window and he was on the other side of my patio wall. Made eye contact and the fucker screamed at me, came back and started banging. Called some passerby a cunt, then left after a bit. IDK if it's cuz of Labor Day evening or what but the police didn't show up for almost two hours. A neighbor we talked to also called them shortly after I did, but yeah. He banged on other doors too and was screaming randomly, also heard he was in the garage hitting cars. We have cool neighbors, apparently, as one came up to ask if we were ok and talked to a couple of others.

Hoping this is a one time incident and the guy was just having a mental episode, or drugged up. Nice coincidence that a buddy of mine I told this to is selling his guns to fund his wedding, so likely gonna get some heat later today. Felt pretty fucking defenseless without anything for protection, and my body is not in any shape to fight some psycho. Also surprised he wasn't shot by someone else considering we live in Texas, but it's mostly chill and quiet folks in their mid 20s-30s who live here.

Car insurance bill went up $27 since last month. No explanation or anything.

Paying $215/month to insure a Honda Civic in New York. Never been in an accident or gotten a ticket in my life.

Absolutely fucking ridiculous.

How long have you been with them? Car insurance is one of those things unless you have a strong relationship with your rep, it's best to shop around every few years if you can as it will just slowly creep up for no reason.

Brought my car to the dealer at the start of the month to see where an electrical drain was happening because dead batteries after 3+ days of car being parked and not used (normal driving habits). They said alternator so replaced it ($600 with labor UGH)

Dead battery today after 72 hours of not driving the car this past weekend. Time to see if they will repair this for free (hahaha yea right) since they messed up and didn't find the correct source of the electrical drain.

Battery itself is 2 months old and still holds charge.

The AAA battery checker says it's fine and that there's a small electrical parasite. Guy came out twice and said it isn't a bad battery. Worked fine for 6 weeks with my normal driving habits.

Also the dealer almost got me killed on the highway as I was starting the drive home. All the gauges started blaring warning lights. Turned around and arrived at the dealer before I lost full power. 5 minutes in a dying car without A/C at 115 degrees SUCKS.

Apparently a bolt on the alternator popped out and I was driving on battery for 10 minutes

Ugh electrical drains are hell to diagnose on cars especially newer ones. Bluetooth can be one source that is overlooked in my experience. Definitely being it back and push back on them , I worked for several car dealerships in service so keep on them.

My own fails :

Work training all week and seems most the instructors are actually either on vacation or assigned to other projects. Mind you we were told over a month ago to make sure we could all attend ( about 25 of us). So the training department deputy is basically forced to run shit alone. We have taken 3 breaks in the first two hours.

The bigger fail is my oldest kitty is definitely on her last months or maybe even weeks if that. She is about 13 but still hard to watch. Her weight has dramatically decreased in the last few months and yesterday noticed basically she is so thin she looks malnourished. Her meows are very faint and broken , her fur has changed from soft and fluffy to looking ragged. I witnessed her drink and she took treats from my hand and ate tuna last night but preparing for the reality.

So from experience you have options.

First of all keep a timeline and documentation of all visits, when this happens, etc. Hopefully it's been the same dealership so they require to keep records which will be a good thing for you.

Yes if AAA replaced the previous battery the warranty for that battery would be via them hence why they want that done.

Now in regards to them possibly doing unnecessary work, bring this up directly with the service manager. Request phone number , email , name , etc.
Document everything in concern in an email but also leave your contact info via voice-mail if no direct answer.

If no response in a reasonable time frame
( 2 -3 business days at most) contact the actual automobile company and they can possibly open a claim to investigate. Sometimes they will help with a goodwill repair cost if you have a costly if you have a relationship with the dealership too.

Well I find out on Saturday what the verdict is. Battery replaced and I'm going to reproduce the conditions (72 hours of not using my car after driving about 12-15 miles for the work day)
