State job, they go 100% by the book. Explained it already and they didn't even bother responding to my email.

Every email we've exchanged it's taken no longer than a day for a response. within 15 mins of the "Bring your social" message, I responded saying I don't currently have one and will try to get one as quickly as possible if that was okay and that was Thursday, haven't heard back

Yepp I told everyone in November expect to get drug tested a lot come the new year since NJ is trying to legalize weed too. It's an easy way not to pay out our severance packages.

I filed an ethics complaint since I've been tested 4 times in 2 years outside of my new hire screen, no one else has been tested since their new hire screen including 6-10yr people.

That sounds like discrimination if there is no basis or grounds for it. What kind of industry are you in ? Hell even in my job with the sheriff's office I only had to do one pre hire , not when I got promoted and not even when I had an on the job minor fall and was off work about 2 weeks.

Energy. And yeah when I was a civil servant it was only when you're hired and then if you fuck up or crash, but if you pop positive and ask for help they are required to send you for help instead of firing.

New rescue kitten. He's trying to front that he's a feral beast but he wants to play and be a part of things reaaaaaallly badly and is generally just a neat little shit, win.

Fail? Last night was the first night we didnt lock him up. He did pretty well with the dogs and the other cat and he was out most of the evening tear asking around. I wake up to a hellacious racket downstairs and realize FUCK I didnt lock the dogs up, either so I go down and then dogs are freaking out, scared. Well, they're crackheads, so who knows what they got into, dont see the kitten and there's no blood or anything so who knows. I get them into the crate and I'm wandering back upstairs when the kitten starts yowling like the most wretched, pathetic thing you've ever heard in your life. I get the lights on and I find him on the countertop, all four legs and his tail stuck in a gluepad mousetrap.

After I got my wife down to help we got him unstuck and managed not to hurt him or break any toes/tail bones or loose any claws or skin. Thankfully the traps are non toxic and the glue breaks down by just coating it in vegetable oil.

Had to give the cat an oil bath, then a real bath in the kitchen sink. He handled it like a champ, I was figuring someone was getting fucked up for this.

So panic and impromptu cat baths and 4 hours of sleep.

Holy shit I would have been a wreck but thankfully turned out okay. Poor thing but sounds like he is a survivor and will be okay. I wouldn't blame yourself too much , these things happen and in the end no harm was done and could have been much worse.

I follow way too many Instagram cat rescue pages and can say this is one of the many happier endings. Need pics though

My manager who has been a massive part of me getting opportunities, OT, and a promotion, is about to lose their job cause of the government EAD H4 visa backlog. She's from India and working here on an H4. She's been living here for awhile under her husband's work visa, she's not under threat of deportation or anything, but she's been with the company for 16 years and cause of this backlog, she's looking kinda screwed. She goes on a 30 day unpaid leave on 1/31 and if it's not resolved by the end of February, she'll have to quit. It used to take about 90~ days top end to get it renewed, but sometime last year it got bumped to 180 days. She submitted her renewal in early August, so hopefully something comes through.

Haven’t spoke to my mom in person in 7-8 months. I texted her once on Christmas however to tell her how much she sucks in response to her spam texting me about what a piece of shit I am. So, it’s not been a solid month with ZERO communication. No text, phone calls, nothing.

Well. Last week, for 5 days, she kept trying to wire me 500 dollars multiple times a day(if I accepted, it would have open the door to her insanity). After that didn’t work. She shows up at my front door a few days ago, smashes on it like she’s SWAT about to break it down. I’m taking a rather large poop and my wife is having a bad Crohns flare so she’s trying to sleep.

Ignore it and it stops. 10 minutes on the dot. Same smashing at the front door. This time, I am off the can. By the time I was able to get up and make it to my front window to see what the hell. She’s gone.

Another ten minutes ago by. Same shit again, only this time I was waiting and watching. She runs from her car, runs to my door, smash knocks, then bolts. After she left I figured “oh. Maybe she left cash in the mailbox” something she’s done before. I open the door, and there are groceries. Nothing I like, and the wife doesn’t eat, and with covid restrictions, it was basically thrown out.

Well. Today. Wife had an early doctors appointment. We are both napping after we get home. We both hear that smashing again. Didn’t feel like dealing it with happening over and over. So I go see what’s left at my front door this time.

I can’t stress this enough it this is honest to god, the actual truth.

I open the door to a brand new, still in an unopened box 55 Inch 4K tv.

I drag that shit in cause I do not want to be marked to be robbed. As soon as I get in the house and close the door. I get a text “sorry it’s not a 70 inch. As soon as it’s payday I’ll get you a 70 inch”.

I haven’t asked for a new tv. I already have several large TVs that are still in perfect working order. Hell, a new tv is the last thing we need. If she wants to mend fences. How about she finishes paying off that vehicle loan, or many other things that are more important.

And now, because of how my mom works. I can not tell her the tv was a bad idea or good idea. I can not message her, period. If I do, it’ll be a nightmare because anything I say. The response I will get is “Oh so this finally gets you to speak to me, I can’t believe the person that cunt of a wife turned you into” or something along those lines.

And knowing my mom. It’s most likely a stolen TV that she got for like 100 bucks but will say it cost her like 1,500 dollars because my family thinks that the dollar amount is how you show love.

I don’t know what to do with this TV. I can’t use it cause if she sees it in use. That’ll be explode in my face for not thanking her. I’m scared to sell it because I don’t know how the law works if that somehow comes to bite me in the ass. “No, officer. It was a gift from my crazy mother” “no, I didn’t give my son anything”. And I’d be the one selling it.

So, I’m very confused and at a loss. These events are just going to ramp up. Some might not see a free 55 inch TV as a fail but knowing and not knowing what coming is the fail. She’s batshit insane.
