That is round trip. I probably should've put that. My complaint is right now you just got the bubble guts which is understandable. But taking an entire day off and the next day running 2hr 15min (and counting) late? Na fam you abusing a boss that won't discipline. However, she's in a situation where her fiance makes six figures and she can quit whenever. I wouldn't blame her quitting once it starts snowing and she's heavier. That would suck.
So glad my commute is 6 miles each way.
Oh boy phones off the hook today with terrible customers making terrible complaints. First customer was actually for yesterday. We told them when we'd be there we showed up and the gates in where closed and locked. We looked around no one there. They call today mad "we didn't come"... while also acknowledging they saw our guys at the gate and just sat there and watched them being locked out. No answer to why they locked us out or just watched us but definitely want us to jump for them now. Then another customer says the last time he was there one of our guys asked her if there was anyone else in the office and that's scary so he can't come in the office now... and that was almost not enough as being in outside in the truck is still scary. Of course this was 2 months ago and he says he talked to a guy there last time so yeah... then someone needing stuff last minute because they are closing the office by Friday and need us before then.
Also yesterday was busy as fuck too
Related to the driving/mileage discussion above:
Took me almost 2 and a half hours to get into work today. I commute 65ish miles each way. It's terrible. Started applying for new jobs.
The fog is p ridiculous today.
That’s the norm in the Bay Area because cost of living is so outrageous. Like for example out 2 bedroom old apartment built in the 60’s in a “bad” area is ramping up to nearly $2500 after pet rent/utilities/etc. Where as if you commute 1-2 hours depending on areas and options it can be half that. I’d happily commute honestly than overpay if I could.
God damn I thought I had it bad. I only commute about 27ish miles to DC each way for work.
My wife's commute is about 34 miles each way mine is about 15 miles each way. Not bad except during the peak tourist times since it is a curvy highway with few passing zones so you can easily get stuck behind some bozo driving 20mph in a 55mph zone.
Yeah you pretty much have to go a full county away from the city to get decent (at least by bay area standards) housing prices and/or decent crime rates. Good part of the reason my town grew so much back in the day was it was cheapish, still decent sized compared to everything else around and only 60 miles away lol
I commuted from Toledo to Ann Arbor for a year a long time ago. There was a large stretch on US23 South where it was one lane as they were working on it. There would be days where I was literally exhausted by the time I got home.
Did Jackson to Troy which is 92 miles each way for about five weeks when we were shoring up an apartment. In the summer. No A/C. Brutal.
No seriously I used to commute in snow and shit in Michigan so this is a no brainer. It absolutely kills me inside to pay so much and I actually don’t mind the commute typically. I don’t have kids or anything that needs my time other than myself so there’s that.
Public transit is great in the east bay/SF but also still is the most expensive areas. I was using public transit before and honestly having my civic has been more economical in the long run.
Trying to finish Trial Mode in FF12 Zodiac Age and fucked up the start against the judges and wiped. Now I get to do 91-100 yet again.
This is the deal breaker. I used to commute, and it was fine when it was just me. Once there's kids though that's 2-4 hours a day you'll never get back, and there just aren't enough hours in the day to make that worthwhile. I'm down to 20min each way now and it's fucking glorious. I haven't had that short of a drive to work since I was a teenager.
Of course I don't live in CA. Fuck all their housing prices.
2 and a half hours to get into work again today.
Plus my car started making a weird noise last night on the commute home. Was almost like air being let out of a balloon, but not a high pitched sound. I thought it was the turbo at first, but it only happened on quick acceleration while passing or merging on to the highway, and then stopped shortly after.
Check your power steering fluid as a starting point, there. A freezing calipur/brake or maybe a rotor bearing would be my next guess since the sound seems to manifest with some degree of wheel turn.
It's not during a turn, it's just during acceleration. There was a guy I was passing yesterday that sped up next to me, so I accelerated harder which is when I first heard the sound. Was able to replicate it every time just doing a hard acceleration. Happened again this morning when I got on the highway, but it had less to do with merging and more to do with the acceleration.
I'm thinking a boost leak from a bad gasket is possible, or some kind of hose leak. Not vacuum, though, because I can still accelerate, but it makes the noise. I was writing off the turbo itself because the turbo going bad is a much higher sound, but I didn't think of a gasket or something leaking.
Having to explain to my dad how Facebook works after he was confused about me ranting about the Judges fight in FF12. I'm pretty sure if I read the bible, it will say that teaching your dad how to facebook is one of the signs of the pending apocalypse.
