Yeah, we have to do the same thing with any storage media in the Medical IT field. We wipe them as best we can, then record serial numbers then take them to a place that will physically destroy them and then examine the remains to make sure there are no large pieces of platters or un-destroyed flash memory chips (ssd's/usb sticks). It's a pain in the ass, but the government is a bit picky and fine happy about data breaches after HIPAA went live.

So casino comes in today to have us destroy their old chips they are retiring. Shouldn't be too bad we got something we can throw stuff as big as video tapes to destroy them so some chips should be fine. Given the volume and speed of our machines should've taken 1-2 hours. Oh we were not prepared for how finicky they would be. 11 am 4 people show up all to observe it being done while 1 of them video taping the entire thing. After each batch would be done they'd look thru it and if there were any pieces "too big" send them thru again. I'm told we've done pretty much everything 2-3 times each. So now it's 4 pm and still not done...

When I was with the Sheriff's Office, we weren't allowed to even wipe and salvage hard drives. Every drive had to be DOJ level of formatting performed, then given to our EOD team to proceed to melt when they did their monthly training. Dragged like 2 milk crates of hard drives to their fire pit the last time I took them out.

Tires been getting a little low... not really used to how often gotta refill road bike tires so topped them off last night. Todays ride in great. Go to ride home and back tire is not completely flat but way too low to ride. Clearly some kind of small leak so go to take it off in prep for replacing tube and something seems off... hard to get tool under weird stuff on it. Oh yeah forgot previous person just kind of stuck tires/wheels on and this is tubular... fuck no way I can put a new one on and regular tires/tubs wont fit on this wheel

Go to see movie over the weekend at one of the nicer ones with reclining seats and such. Movie starts and the lights on the side are still on... given it's a small auditorium and they are kind of low it means no matter where you are 1 will be close and for me 1 was like 10 feet from my face and bright enough it actually made it so I couldn't really see dark scenes. Exit and talk to someone hear them radio in about it. Go back and still on... after done I ask about it and apparently it's their new policy to leave the fucking lights on during a movie <.<. Some of the bigger auditoriums might not be too bad if you can get far enough away but no way to know if you can ahead of time so guess no going here again

Recently had something similar happen to a friend of mine and took it upon myself to call everyday because I was legit concerned for her mental state. Be that friend everyone says they want to be.

Yo this happened to me last week and I thought it was just an accident and I let it slide. If this is a new widespread theater policy idk if reclining seats and reserved seating is enough to overcome a distracting light in the theater...

If it was just a trade between a little distracting and recline/reserve but like on dark scenes you just can't clearly see them... they are designed to be seen with no other light sources (or at least very little) and already paying a little more for these seats than old ones to begin with. Think I'm gunna call them because it's literally making some stuff unwatchable at worse and at best it's severely diminishing the experience that already paying a decent amount for and well got other options. Just liked that one because it's often kind of empty... now I know why lol

I don't think my downtown theater is doing it (or maybe it's cause they just don't have small enough auditoriums that I'm forced to be near one so wasn't bugged by it)

In other news we aren't open today. It's clearly posted. And even if we were we would close at 4 pm. So someone calls at 3:40 pm saying not only do they need to come in today but that they have about the same amount as last time they were here which was about an hours worth of work... as such I know they should know we aren't open and that regardless they should let us know ahead of time to make sure we can do it not hey do it now please. Boss of course sighs and says yes while I'm like nope
