Feel an old crown crack over lunch. OK, it's old and shit happens, nbd. Call the dentist, get an appointment first thing in the morning, great. Get in the car to go home, and the ac's broken. Better and better. And then a huge chunk of the crown comes out over dinner. I now have a very sharp edge in my mouth and I'm trying not to slice my tongue open before tomorrow morning.

So alert goes out on phones not to worry there is no fire near here. Wut? Look at the window and it's like already dusk... go closer to look out window proper and yep thick smoke all around. Go outside and it's definitely thick enough you can feel it in your lungs. Fire is like 200 miles away though so yay. But shit I had plans this weekend somewhat in that direction... and while that area will be fine it's going to not be nearly as scenic a day trip as I had planned

Posted in win thread about a job interview. Crushed the interview, said they were prepping the offer letter, got the letter and their offer was 20% less than I make now. Spoke to the VP today after I got done at work and they're holding that salary. Almost insulting. Was only offering a minimal raise after I get my NYS licensure, when I know I could make almost double their offer plus the raise.

Difference in region I guess, NYC versus Hudson Valley, but not a chance in hell I'm taking that offer. Have some closure on that at least. Took them three days to respond to my email reply asking to discuss further.

I work-lived in Cali for like a year maybe 6 or 7 years ago. There were fires, but it wasn't perpetually on fire. Fire for you guys feels like it's as common as a rain storm or something anymore.

It’s always been common for the state to be on fire. Just with the advance of news and social media, the rest of the country gets to see how common it is.

Fire season used to be from end of September to start of December. But with climates shifting and persistent drought, it's a year round season now.

So I tried to be creative with breakfast today.

Took some leftover miso soup with onions and potatoes, put it in a sauce pan to heat up. Left it like 2 minutes too long so a bunch evaporated.

Put some ramen noodles in with the idea to make egg drop miso ramen soup something.



The ramen sucked up the rest of the broth and as I added the eggs it all just turned into a mushy mess of noodles, potatoes, and is slightly eggy.

Growing up in Florida I dealt with fires regularly a few times a year but nothing like this. It’s really scary and I was working yesterday and about 3/4 of my job posts are outside. I was on lunch as the smoke filled into Oakland and by the time I went back on post the smoke was so thick I could t help but breathe it in. Earlier on the day we had an hour of windy conditions so thought it was just from a small vegetation fire locally at first. By the time I went inside to switch posts at 2:30pm the smoke was covering the skyline , FAA tower and it was coming in through the doors that you could smell it upstairs at the terminal gates.

My eyes were burning all night and bloodshot, my chest was burning and I woke up sick all night vomiting on and off. I think I was coming down with the flu yesterday prior but this made it worse
