Weening off of Paxil is kicking my ass and I'm only on day three. Going from 60mg to 20mg for the next month. Every morning I have a headache and the front of my face feels weird. I'm definitely more irritable. Just trying to stay positive and keep myself in check.

Everyone coming into the airport kept asking me where the smoke was from and were shocked when I explained it’s not even local to us.

I’m dreading work tomorrow and I was sick today ugh.

idk about down there but up in north bay it's definitely better than yesterday. Like I no longer see ash falling from the sky and my eyes aren't burning. I'd imagine it's similar better given the farther distance. Still not looking forward to the bike ride home

It was fine yesterday but had to close the windows today and it looks terrible. Heading into SF soon, hopefully a bit better there with the wind

Do you guys have any sort of special insurance or protection for all the issues constant fires brings? Smoke damage to homes and cars, health problems from breathing it in, risk of property damage due to a damn inferno engulfing everything all come to mind? I have a hard time imagining those images above being just another Friday, or being thankful that it's just hazy and smokey, and ash isn't openly falling from the sky. I get cranky enough during Spring/Fall when allergies kick in our here in KY. I couldn't imagine the stress, home/car maintenance, and health problems that must be prevalent.

So this is rather unnerving- I have light to moderate asthma and have been having issues breathing since yesterday. I got really sick overnight and had to call off work. That red is where I live and work. My job requires me to be outside all day tomorrow per my assigned posts.
I heard they are providing masks but I have a hard time breathing through them too ugh.

I’ll be out in some of the worst of it 6 hours doing traffic control on the airport curb.
The red zones are considered unhealthy for everyone- oh joy.

It all depends on where you live but the amount of large fires we've had in the 2 years around the bay area is a bit unusual. So like last year basically no one had insurance. Plus if you were here in the 90s the smog was sometimes worse than well not right now here but some other fires. Like for example that map Astylla posted... notice how oddly the areas closer to the fire that the smoke has to travel thru to get to where she is have better air quality lol. Hell places that are literally 4 times closer have much better air quality right now... a lot of it is just how the hills and valleys block and hold in stuff and well other pollution

Fine by the eye test at least. It's visibly bad now. SF is a bit smoky too

Honestly, wild fires aside, a fire can break out anywhere, so having fire coverage in your renters/homeowners insurance should be a given. Same with flood. Now if you live in outside of earthquake country (hey, another reason california can suck) and you're paying for earthquake insurance, you should probably drop that coverage.

No doubt. I was thinking more smoke damage and health risks/problems due to the air. I remember my parent's rental when I was much younger having some hillbillies that burnt all their trash in a burn barrel out back. The home was downwind of it, prolly 30-40 feet away, but the smoke ruined the siding, staining it all and creating some sort of film on all the windows. They pretty much had to redo the entire outside of the house to make up for it all. I dunno how close the fires regularly get out there, but with the sheer amount of smoke, I assumed that might be a concern. With the pickiness of insurance, I could only imagine something like that not being covered unless you had some kind of special coverage.

The biggest issue is that the threat of fire is statistically going up constantly every year to the point that I know at least in my area which is rural and in a forest cannot get insurance for fires anymore. It just isn't worth it to the insurance companies, the risk is too big.

well in theory if we have enough big enough fires the threat will go down until stuff grows back. silver linings yo!

Or we could ya know stop fining people for moving/getting rid of dead dried old plant life because it might disturb a habitat that totally wont be disturbed in a fire

Cut off all ties with a friend of around 8 years that I met in XI and by extension, another friend from XIV of 5 years. As of recently, all they would do is make me feel like shit since I stopped playing XI/XIV and started focusing on physical and mental health. I injured my left knee a few days ago, preventing me from running or playing DDR, pretty much the only 2 things that keep me simultaneously healthy and happy. I also started playing a new rhythm game called Sound Voltex, and decided to livestream it since I was just going to try out new songs and wanted to see how well my computer could stream. My friend mocked the songs and insulted the stream in general, so I just unfriended them and stopped talking to them altogether. It's understandable to not like certain music, but being a racist fuck, insulting one of the few remaining things in my life that keeps me happy, is going too far.

Also, some unrelated friends have ghosted me when I try to send messages to them. I'm used to it at this point, but it still hurts.
