We bought our own modem years ago as it’s far better and pays for itself vs the rental fees monthly. It’s just time for a new router just annoying lol.

7 years strong using my own. Zero issues. If a person's IP allows you to use your own modem and router, do it!

Yup, fuck those 12-15 dollar modem rental fee's. Plopped 70 on my own cable modem, believe the router was somewhere in the 130-150 range when I bought it. So I'm already ahead. I'm pretty confident in that it's the 5ghz radio failed just by the fact the netgear genie can't even properly display the channel it's broadcasting to.

I'm sure you probably already tried this, you could try a hard reset to factory settings, usually theres a little button behind a pinhole on the back of the router. As a last resort you could try a firmware update.

You're probably right though, if the software isn't able to tell you what channel the radio is broadcasting on it's probably hardware failure, though you don't really have anything to lose by trying those things if you haven't.

That's about the only thing I haven't done, and the only reason I haven't is I don't have the paper/sticker I believe that had the built in default admin password for the router, since Netgear smartly got away from leaving it as admin all those years ago.

I got extremely lucky and scored an Asus AC-1700 for $15 on clearance at Meijer. Been in use for three years now and not even once have I needed to reset it. Those fees are the bullshit.

Not sure if your router falls into this support section or not, however it seems they do have a set of default usernames and passwords for factory resets listed on their website.

That is easily in my top list of Disney let alone Pixar movies. It really hit home for me on some levels and I seriously can’t watch it without crying now. On the upside you chose a great movie to watch.

Dealing with more fun identity theft issues. Got an alert last night that someone accessed my DMV records at 3am so that obviously wasn’t me. I don’t know exactly what was done and can’t talk to anyone because of course it’s state office and they don’t open again until Monday. Fortunately for me a few months ago I had my physical car title mailed to me so I know at least that is safe. I suspect that someone could also try to get a passport in my name if they have done this so I tried to call in to report to the FTC but I got an automated message saying they were closed due to the government shutdown. fml

So go to kitchen for a little bit of food and greeted by a hundreds of ants all over my area around my sink. No clear path of where they came from or where they were going just milling about the sink and walls and countertop nearby. No open food around and there wasn't any there just a couple of hours ago when I did dishes so now I'm super wtfing about this. Think I killed them all though. Only thing I can think of is they came from the sink itself maybe for the warmth?

That’s happened to me before when it rained a lot in my bathroom sink before. It was really fucking random. Cinnamon sprinkled about will actually keep them away. We used to have terrible ant issues about 1-3 days each summer in our bathroom on the hottest days since we face a hill.
