Been sitting around for three hours waiting for a call from the body shop so I can pick up my car. This is after I waited three hours for them to call me back in the first place to see if I could pick it up today. I had errands to run in the city it's located in, so I wanted to knock it out all at once, but that would be too convenient.

My dad can't international travel without adding a metric fuck ton of costs.

Day 0) Excess baggage, $150 because he packed one too many hand carry. I told the person at the airport service desk to check it in because I didn't want my dad to cause an irate scene.
Day 2) forgets to turn on his Airplane mode, $100+ in cell phone charges (international plan starts on Jan 20 since he's out of the country for 39 days)

So this is what it's like having a 74 year old teenager. This shit is stressing me out.

Follow up to coworker who wrote the auto policy under misrepresentation. Company is going to forgive it. She still does not understand the magnitude of her actions and is just glad "it was her own policy". She was off yesterday but I received the call from claims giving the outcome so I called her with the news. If this was a company like Progressive that claim would've been denied immediately and the person who wrote the policy would've been terminated immediately. It's clear misrepresentation and manipulating the system for gains.

Earlier in the day one of our current insured comes in to "add two cars and her mother to her policy". One car and mom would make sense but not two. I ask who is on the titles. Mom. Is mom at your address. No. Can't do it because no insurable interest and is not a resident relative right? She points to my coworkers office (yep, same one) and says, "When I started here my mother in law called and did the same thing. She said once I had six months I could break off of her policy and have my own." Just like someone who gets their first DUI, it wasn't the first time you did it. It was the first time you got caught. I told the boss/owner and per usual he says, "We can't keep doing things like this."

I decided last night to look for literally anything and move on from this industry. I am no superstar or perfect salesperson but I just can't with this stuff that happens in insurance. It's hard enough trying to get people to see the value with coverage and taking on policies like life insurance when everyone says to just give them the cheapest and why do life insurance where we have a global begging forum (go fund me) to take care of their death instead of being responsible and taking care of what's inevitable.

To those that think I'm an idiot for thinking about this stuff too much or I should "just ignore it" I'd sell my soul to the devil to make that happen. As mentioned before I have anxiety. Not the type that Mandy says to her girlfriends "Oh this thing happened and omg my anxiety went up!". The best way I can try to really put it into perspective is the video below from the movie Revolver. The scene is about ego and how your ego talks to yourself. Replace it about ego with when a situation happens and it's my mind turning up to 100 about what's happening and I can't turn it off. At least the meds make it so I'm not doing this most of the day. I'm really considering trying hypnotherapy for help.

Oh, and you know how it always feels auto rates go up or whatever? There are many reasons such as yourself, your car, where you live, etc. The thing most people just can't seem to grasp is in reality I don't just insure myself, I insure all of you too. Insurance is group funded so therefor when occurrences happen we all pay, and it's not just occurrences from what I did as a driver or what not. When things like what my coworker did happen someone has to pay for it. It's not "forgiven". The insurance companies will get their money one way or another.

We all react to things differently and have different triggers. I can't relate with the anxiety that you feel, but based on what you've described, I can relate it to my own field. I'd feel angry, and I'd do as much as I could to fix the problem, whether that was overstepping management to fix the problem or just take the fix on myself. The problem with being "the fixer" is you get taken advantage of and end up cleaning up other's messes. Some of these come about due to lack of give a fuck, lack of knowledge, laziness, etc. Regardless of the reason, one you're taken advantage of, it just gets worse.

If you've never done one before, I'd recommend looking into taking a DISC assessment. The last two jobs I've had performed one and they were pretty spot on on how I react, what's important to me, the kind of people that I get along with, the kind I don't, etc. It can really open your eyes to why you are the way you are and help you deal with it.

That said, it does little to help you actually deal with it or improve the situation. It just helps you understand the why. I dunno if there are any free tests available. The ones I took thru work were provided at some sort of charge to the company for their services. The first one I received at the old company was fairly basic, but it was still spot on. This most recent one was pretty crazy. Ended up with an 80 page report really breaking down a lot of aspects. Some of it was a little off, or just too broad to really be applicable. But the majority was like a Neo in the Matrix "woah" moment.

And so it begins - first Facebook friend of the year posted she’s having a kid , her first and she just got engaged about a month ago. This one I didn’t see coming as she’s been having major Workman’s comp/health issues from it for a good two years now and is fairly religious. Given the timeframe though I have a feeling she got knocked up so that’s why her boyfriend proposed so fast ( less than a year together) so it looks more “acceptable “.

I think what gets me of these situations is it’s all excitement without any obvious regard for the seriousness of the situation. I should also add neither of them live on their own either among other things that make me want to scream.
Not a local friend and more of an online acquaintance so just watching the drama unfold.

Unless they drive away or put me in the ICU it's a civil matter? So let me get this straight hitting someone with your fist is at least a misdemeanor battery but hitting a guy on a bike with a huge deadly weapon while violating other traffic laws isn't anything... makes total sense.

No we were trying to work it out though according to my local police that also doesn't matter. The hitting itself isn't a criminal act and so can only be pursued civil/via insurance companies (who invariably try to weasel out of it). Only if I was very seriously injured or they fled the scene. And even then I'm told it's hard to "prove" unless a cop sees it

This also location as such. Like Oregon actually seems to recognize that there is an inherent danger disparity between several tons of metal moving at a human body while some states it's hard to get any criminal charges even when the person almost dies. In some states they kind of can use various 3 foot rules that exist but looking up California's seems to only count highway encounters

Google told me to get a police report and make sure they take your statement all for purposes of possible lawsuit
