I've had Seagulls (Stop It Now) in my head for about 24 hours straight. I'm basically ready to die any time now.
Series of fails and wins all within two hours of each other, wasn't sure which thread to put it in, so we will go with this one.
Win
Trump gives a speech and the government is going to reopen, so I don't have to worry about not getting a paycheck.
Fail
Friday in Detroit, so the drive home is going to suck. I go to my car and turn it on, toss it into drive. While i'm changing gear it goes in to reverse and not into Drive. I don't notice at 1st, but luckily i don't heavy foot it so when i start to move backward i stop. Anyone that parks in a large city know when people parallel parks, everyone is up each others ass, but i avoid hitting the car behind me. I check the gear i put it in, which is drive, but my dash says i'm in R. I try to change it back and forth and attempt to put it in park, nothing happens. I freak out and turn off the car.... Because it is stuck in R, now the car won't turn back on. I must also note that i have to walk a good mile from my office to my car (Free parking is hard to find and the walk saves me about 3k a year so i deal with it). It is now 5 degrees outside, and my car won't start, and i'm 60 miles away from my home.
Win
I walk back to my office to warm up and start making some calls. We have roadside coverage with our policy, but a tow past 20 miles could cost us. So the choice was either pay for a long distance tow or take it close to Detroit and have to make a few long drives to get it back afterward. I google the issue and come across this lovely video:
This seems to happen to a lot of fusions and it sounds just like my issue. I walk back to my car, once again freezing my ass off, and follow the video and it works. I'm able to get the car back into park, re-link the cable, and SLOWLY put it into drive. Once it is in drive, i'm able to drive normally. At this point, I'm so happy because i can now get it close to my home to have it fixed.
(Side note: I need to send that guy a fucking gift, note the comments in the video, this guy has saved a lot of people)
Win/Fail
I get it to the dealership and start to show them the problem. Based on how they responded, they see this often and look up something. Turns out this was a recall. I get recall notices every now and then, but never about this. So i'm happy that this won't cost me anything, but pissed i wasn't told about this issue beforehand.
Moss, Bane; I've known he has a well..evil temper for a while. This isn't the first time he's gone off the deep end, to the point I try not to pick on him.
And to be honest, if I have to deal with a customer service rep while angry, I go take a walk and kick rocks first to cool down. (We are on a gravel road. I also admit to having a temper, but I hope I got it under better control than my brother.) They don't deserve our ire. In my mind, the idiot dig crew that caused this mess deserves what they got, and I hope they're out of work for a month b/c of this snafu, as Mahler hinted might happen.
I've worked in alot of shitty jobs, working at bakery taught me a work ethic, working retail after that didn't seem like work at all in comparison, the worst part of it was indeed the customers that were basically entitled children that called themselves adults.
Learning to deal with the worst of people serves me well in my current role though, L1/L2/L3 (depending on the product) tech support for a B2B data company. I rarely deal with the calibur of manbaby that I did in retail, but when I do it's easy to pull data from their files that either indicates what they're seeing is a problem on their side, or actually indicates a problem I can fix - usually they are happy either way just to have confirmation that either we are fixing or we can't fix it because our data is correct as sent.
I wish it was so simple Zet. That brother has SERIOUS problems, including anxiety and depression (Which is NOT well controlled by meds; he's also been doing some really stupid stuff (don't ask), not to mention he's the one that's addicted to WoW). Smart gal does not stick her hand in that alligator's mouth. (I'd get it bitten off.) But yeah, life is rarely simple in that respect. /sigh.
As for a bit of a update/info I missed on the snafu; the neighbor said the AT&T guy was on the phone making excuses right after it happened. I bet that idiot tech got what was coming to him, like mahler mentioned. That at least calm my furious heart for the moment; as I said, I don't yell at the poor phone tech. I save my ire for the culprit.
I find people like that are ones who don't get told enough. It's not fun dealing with the inevitable tantrums at any age but people aren't going to start controlling themselves until without life and/or somebody smacking their snoot. They are just going to keep getting worse and develop more problems. If it's so bad you walk on eggshells around and don't want to tell him might be best to distance yourself... from the sounds of things I bet a lot of people in his life already have
You're excusing all of his problems.
My XB1 turned on by itself today. So bizarre. The controller was untouched on a desk nearby. Nothing hit the power button on the console itself. I was right in front of it while playing PS4. I thought maybe it turned on to download an update, but when I flipped the input on my TV to the XB1 channel, it just sat there idle. So now I guess I have a haunted XB1.
Snow coming down hard. Gonna take me at least two hours to get home at this rate.

Pasham: Hello, my name is Kavya
worst pain I have ever experienced started last night. Shooting pains from my lower back to my groin. So bad I couldn't sleep. When to my urologist this morning (god I'm old) and sure enough I has a kidney stone. I don't wish this on my own enemy.
Found out that a restaurant I ate at while on vacation had an employee diagnosed with Hepatitis A. They are encouraging anyone who ate there in the last few weeks to monitor themselves for symptoms for the next several weeks. God damn it.
