I’m sorry this sucks to go through. I recommended getting a backup ID card as well for these situations if you don’t have a passport.

actually a small win: I had taken out my ID to show a bouncer and put it in my pocket. THANK GOD. that would have been the worst part by far. no social security card in there either. so I think this is just a case of having to replace a few credit cards and a bit of lost cash. oh and I hadn't activated my new debit card yet so I have that on hand too! still not a fun feeling but man am I glad it worked out the way it did

You fucking get me - I swear any Costco I go to brings their entire extended fucking family just to eat the samples and never buy hardly anything if at all. And I have been pushed out of the way while just trying to get by..fuck those people and their kids too who are just as rude.

Was walking to the kitchen last night to get a drink (just a water this time!) and right when I stepped from the carpeted living room to the ceramic tile kitchen, my right foot slid into where the kitchen cabinets start. Super painful and an hour later my nail and side of my right big toe are purple. Wife says I'll lose the nail. Never had this happen. Can't even wear a shoe and driving to work sucked. Wrap in medical tape? Cut it off? What do?

Cut the toe off and grow a new one.

I'd probably wrap some gauze on it and tape the gauze in place. Just as a cushion, not so much to help it heal or prevent the nail from coming off. You'll want to let the nail fall off if it's going to do that.

I lost a thumb nail when I was a kid by closing it in a gate. Wasn't fun at the time, but don't remember much about it other than the initial pain. You should be okay, other than the shoe thing being a pain in the ass.

When it happened to my fiance, she cut off the part that as visibly broken/hanging off but I guess the majority of the nail was actually dead too and it took the better part of a year to fully heal and grow back. For the first month or so it seemed like the nail wasn't growing at all.
New nail started growing under the old nail and she had to sometimes wedge a bit of cotton in the corner to stop it from becoming ingrown.
As for bandaging it, she didn't. It didn't hurt her so bad she couldn't wear shoes but I know sometimes she'd complain that it hurt when the top of her toe was touching her sock or even a blanket.

Ok good I'm not going to die then! While driving I use the top part of my foot and it was painful so I had to more so use the middle of my foot. Was having slight issues shifting smoothly cause I wasn't gauging how much pressure I was putting on the gas. I probably looked like a noob driving a stick to others!

Just be careful when it grows back that it doesn't go super ingrown. Had that happen and kept rehappening when cutting it down so they basically ended up having to make a V-notch down the middle to pull it more back to the middle as it grew back. And Lidocain didn't do shit for me when they did that.

Had an appointment with my primary doctor today. They call and cancel 30 min prior to the appointment, even though I'm almost there and they've already been open well over an hour. The other two specialists I had scheduled later in the week canceled those appointments, but both want me in today within an hour of each other. I mean it's good since I was already off of work, but wtf.

If you live in a place that was affected by the weather last week it's very likely all of the patients from the latter half of last week were rescheduled for this week and they've had to push things back for routine appointments in favor of more immediate concerns.

Or they just suck.

Before the holidays my wife and I had an appointment for the baby stuff. They were 2 hours behind because the only doctor covering was our normal doctor while all her other colleagues took off. Rather than reschedule the appointments for when they were in, they just loaded everything onto our doctor. It just made people angry that they were waiting for hours. I know I was PISSED. I'd have rather they rescheduled, even if it was our doctor that was the one that was in.

Got my pinky finger stuck in one of the folds of a garage door once. Nail turned purple and fell off, grew a new one.

Had my big toe nail pried off once, moving a pretty much full 42U rack and rolled right in to my toe. My toe obviously lost. Was actually pretty funny once we packed it off...the blood trail out of the room was pretty epic. It looked like we stabbed an annoying user and they crawled under the racks to die.
