It's rough. That was me last year and picking up a lot of the pieces while taking over taking care of my father. Just went to visit my mom's resting place the other day. Still vivid as heck that I can replay the full day when we pulled life support from my mom.
Late night brain spontaneously reminds me of a failed relationship from over 15 years ago that, at the time, I had super high hopes for.
I think we all go through this time to time , especially at stressful times in our life. I’ve found myself questioning a lot lately about my past as I get older but recent events have made me realize that things tend to work out for the best overall.
It definitely doesn’t help the emotions associated with it though.
Been getting 1.5-2hrs of sleep a night for the last 5 or 6 days now. Just can't stay asleep
I try to think like this as well. I'm trying to go more natural for my anxiety and while nothing crazy has happened this week it's been going good. But yeah when it's a bad week I get home and it really doesn't matter what else is going on my mind will just go off the rails.
First and foremost condolences to Psychodwarf and anyone else that's lost family/parents. It's weird for me because I read how it crushes people and I think about myself and how I wouldn't even notice. When my dad passed almost 5 years ago I didn't have one feeling about it. My wife basically forced me to go to the funeral for the rest of the family. I looked at him and felt nothing. Only bit of emotion I felt was seeing the rest of my extended family, whom I don't talk to, be so upset. I was sad for them being sad. That funeral was the last time I spoke to my sister and I haven't spoken to my mother for close to six years now. Sometimes when I'm having a rough go it will make me sad I don't have a family to rely on and I'll wish to talk to them. Then I remind myself there is a reason you don't speak to them. They are toxic and bring you down. It's a sad truth.
riding in today and here a loud pop and tire goes flat immediately. Check tire can't find anything sticking out go back to where it happened and don't see anything till I look at the sidewalk and see most of a broken wine bottle. Look at road closer and sure enough some big chunks there but between the color of the glass and it being overcast and under and overpass kind of blends into wet asphalt. So yay nice walk
Have to send back my PSU today. >_< It's failing but still under warranty. It is a higher end model but lately it's been shutting down under heavier loads. So I will be without a computer for a while. The only good thing is my model is discontinued and they are going to replace it with the newer version for free.
Bought a new vaporizer about two months ago (1/18), it died a couple weeks ago, like super dead, nothing on the display even when plugged in.
It's well within the 1 year warranty, and the company (flowermate) just shipped me a new one for free without even asking me to send the old one back.
Should be here some time Saturday.
Just curious, what make and model? I've yet to have a PSU fail on me thank goodness. I do have a couple backups just in case. I did buy a used Corsair HX 1000w that was dead when I received it. I rma'd it with Corsair and two days after it was marked received by them I had tracking for a brand new unit heading my way. Corsair deserves the love they get.
Out of curiosity, why are you using your debit card for autopay and not a credit card? If you prefer them coming directly out of your account, you should look into Privacy.com. You can set up unique cards per merchant as well as set limits.
I wish I could blame stress, but this was just pretty fucking out of left field.
Cliff notes version is they were someone I met on AOL way back in my early teens, we had a lot of common interests, talked on the phone a lot, exchanged letters, and seriously talked about closing the distance between us once able. Older sister has a business trip to DC near new year's, this person lived in a DC 'burb, convinced to tag along and we could finally officially meet. The plans were pretty simple, meet up for lunch in Union Station, then head to their friend's where they were gonna have a NY's party. Wasn't any implied raunch from either side, either. We meet, start lunch, they go to the restroom about 15m in and don't come back. From here it's just pretty much downhill for me as I'm in a strange place, a good walk from my hotel, and basically had years of trust invalidated in an instant. This was pre-smartphones, too, so the best I could manage was to slowly thumb text 'em on my shitty Nokia and try to figure out what the fuck just happened or, at the very least, if they were okay. The walk back to the hotel felt like it took as long as it did to drive to DC, and I didn't really have anyone to snap me out of it because my sister was going to be gone until early morning. Some shitty room service chicken with zero taste followed for dinner. I sat through some Jekyll and Hyde play with Hasslehoff on TV. I tried walking around the hotel a bit to shake some stir craziness, but by then the rest of the world was being all, "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" and I was just a ghost cursing all "Fuck off!" under my breath.
So, while years later, I can be all, "Ha ha, internet relationships blow!" at the time, I'd say it pretty fucking traumatic. Probably the worst part, though, is it's still the closest I've ever actually gotten to the proverbial real thing, as adulthood kicked in and the only people I'd pretty much meet since were those I worked with (so much eww to go around here) or yet more online folks. Tried net dating, hooked up a few times here and there, but nothing substantial and I see no immediate change to that as this area blows for nerd socialization venues. Plus just generally being too broke to afford dating, anyway.
Let poor past experiences guide you for a better future experience man. From what I read you are letting them lose your path instead.
Finances definitely come before dating I say. Focus on your work, grab yourself some cheap non-time consuming hobbies (walking, trekking, photography and general outdoor stuff are perfect for this not to mention the health benefits). Don’t aim to find a relationship, once you get the above straight usually relationship comes to you. And again, usually in a much better fashion.
As I’ve previously mentioned in a different post, failed relationships do hurt in the heat of the moment and later on if you fail to detach yourself from them. But from an objective point of view, the next one, the future one will always be better. Don’t sacrifice a potential Ferrari for a tricycle
It's not so much that I'm basing my worth primarily around it or anything, it's just that I literally see no progress in that direction without stupid dumb luck throwing it at me because this area is horrible and anyone who can manage to GTFO has done so.
So replaced my bike tube pretty easy last night. Looked the tire over and saw only a relatively minor slash it spins and inflates fine. Go to leave today and notice a weird bulge... yep the slash was much bigger that it looked and the tube had push partly thru and now was being pinched by the tire. So guess I can't ride in on that and need a new tire now. Kind of impressive considering how resistant it is and how well it's taken other debris. But yeah my weekend is off to a great and busy start. Also somehow my phone did this thing where it took the picture and it showed in camera but then when I went to look for it it showed the previous as the most recent in camera
