Would say it was about a 6 year build-up. I did get in contact again once I was back home on AOL, and while evasive at first (like logging out when I got on or not responding to IMs), the eventual excuse I got was they chickened out. Not very satisfying, but I also knew I didn't do anything objectively wrong during our lunch because I was, like, ultimate goodie two-shoes back then. Pretty much stopped interacting after. Thankfully, this was about the back end of AOL's lifespan as I'd found some other online hobbies and we eventually got access to cable, anyway. Situation still sucked and I have no idea why my brain decided to drudge it out.

A friend and co-worker was let go today and it felt like a gut punch to everyone in the building. He was very well liked and had been here 20 years, and to everyone’s knowledge always did his job well. We were all just told that the company “wanted to go in a new direction” and that was that. He seemed to take it all very well. But man. The whole rest of the day it felt like one long funeral in the office.

Just had a meeting and my subdivisions (20 engineers - ee, me, etc.) are not doing enough leg work. We've been working on this project for about 7 months, and our deadline is soon approaching. So I'm shitting my pants rn bc systems engineering is responsible for this and we aint got nothing to show. My supervisor put us on blast last week and it was well deserved. The sad part is that we actually ended the year super stronk, like insanely super awesome. After the christmas break it all went to shit.

Out of curiosity, why are you using your debit card for autopay and not a credit card? If you prefer them coming directly out of your account, you should look into Privacy.com. You can set up unique cards per merchant as well as set limits.

I use a debit because it's easier to track our spending. And honestly, just laziness since I had no problems until this incident. I'll probably get around to getting one of those card protector things in the future.

@ work get asked to do a task by Friday. I decline the task because I need some flexibility to deal with family stuff (fucking probate shit but that's another can of worms that will require court fees) and may need to take time off or shorten my hours suddenly, might miss the deadline. Get chewed out for not sharing earlier that info of private family matters. Hey assholes, it's private because you don't need to know about it unless it is necessary.

I'm taking a 3 or 4 day weekend to spite them now UGH.

My vacation is at 120% of cap, 28days/24 days annually accrued (California allows to go up to 150% of annual max and carries over year-to-year) I top off in 4 months if I don't take another PTO day.

Also lolcorporate policy - plz don't do OT, it costs too much. Oh do OT when we ask but still get all the preapproval because payroll is going to kill us if we go over budget. Also hiring freeze because our Q1s normally suck - customers buy all their shit in Q4 before we jack up prices by 10-20% - but we're only at 80% full staffing in our department. We're also "growing at our greatest pace in the history of the division." Fuck all that corporate bullshit.
