Bit of a slow start.... but once they both start doing their thing, it gets much better. Last 15-20 mins is freaking amazing... when it gets to the monsters that is. Human parts still dumb.

That said it definitely feels like they cut A LOT out of this movie. Lance Reddick showing up for one scene to say one line? Seems like a waste and I'm sure they had more there but left it out

LMAO I literally said out loud, "wow, they hired him just to say the place was being evacuated??" I don't remember, but why wasn't Charles Dance in this movie?

The human stuff was somehow worse than the Aaron Johnson stuff from the original Godzilla, but the monster stuff was great.

The human side of the Mechagodzilla stuff was somehow worse than anything in any of the other movies, but once they shut up and just let em all fight that shit was great and well done.

Yeah the kids were definitely 100% unnecessary, should have either given the time to Monarch stuff or just more monsters.

The human stuff- (Milly & Sidekick boy and Expedition Man & Boss' Daughter) were a complete waste of space and time. At least the human stuff in KotM felt like it had some effect on the story (though it has been some time since I've rewatched it). The human stuff here was just to explain a situation no one needed or wanted an explanation for. You handwave gravity inversion, hovercrafts, and fucking mind-melding with a giant robot dinosaur, but we have to waste half the runtime on obtaining a magical power source and setting up the characters so they're in a position to witness the stuff? It's a movie. Not a 1st person perspective book. Just show us evil corporate guy doing evil corporate stuff and then show Ghidora taking over mechagodzilla.
I also felt the ending of the final fight was a huge letdown. Why couldn't they let it end naturally instead of by spilling liquid on a keyboard? I was willing to forgive the human stuff because that last fight was so good. It just ended so anticlimactically.

I hope Kong shoving the axehandle down Godzilla's throat was an intentional reference to the Kong forcing a tree down Godzilla's throat from the earlier movie.
