Infact it's so not normal that I'd suspend him while the company did an investigation into his tweets, conduct interviews, etc, and if there seems to be a pattern I'd fire him, and if there wasnt I'd offer him his job back just the way it was if he still wanted it. They skipped right to the last part but that's not wrong either, because the dude literally said Martin Luther Coon. Ain't nobody wanna watch the weather done by the guy who non chalantly drops Martin Luther Coon roflll

And if yall think the effort to say Luther King and Luther Coon are so similar that it could just roll off the tongue, then damn son lol.

You've now admitted theres a possibility that a slip like this doesn't mean he has a Hitler shrine in his basement and goes to nightly Klan meetings, and thats more than we've gotten so far and honestly all I want. As i said several posts ago, I'm willing to believe he might be a racist if more evidence is presented, I just don't have enough evidence from this one single incident to stamp out his career especially when as far fetched as they seem to some people, there are explanations that don't lead to "racist".
I agree, I wish this was the rational world we lived in. He definitely should be scrutinized after this incident and this would have been a justified approach...Infact it's so not normal that I'd suspend him while the company did an investigation into his tweets, conduct interviews, etc, and if there seems to be a pattern I'd fire him, and if there wasnt I'd offer him his job back just the way it was if he still wanted it.
Bruh just go back and read man this ain't even close and we're not devoting another 4 pages to being barked down at.
I assume that's Overwatch stuff and if so I'm sorry to hear it.
The next overwatch season is gonna be odd alright...
I mean I guess you need it to be said? Just because someone is racist doesn't mean he spends every waking moment devising a way to undermine the minority community. Sometimes it's as simple as saying "Martin Luther Coon" on TV and acting surprised when people question what the fuck is going on in your life that that word would just slip out of your mouth at an age when you're old enough to know why it shouldn't be.
Most people dont need the obvious pointed out though.

News anchors never fuck up their words. Ever.
You'll get no argument from me that if all they did was "Question" why that word came out of his mouth and investigate it to determine if it was a fluke or dude is straight up just racist and let it slip in public, and if they found evidence supporting "Racism" take proper action. Thats the kind of response i expect from a situation like this because that response would be rational. Instead it was a straight firing without question and now he's labeled a racist and his career is likely ruined over something that could possibly be, no matter how improbable, an honest mistake.
I can't put into words why this matters to me so much if you don't already understand so I won't waste your time trying... it just does, and its okay if you don't agree I understand where you're coming from and that we just look at the world differently. I just don't think for this specific case the punishment matched the crime and the self righteous hate and harassment getting spewed toward this man on Social media.
Edit: And for what its worth on the "exposure" side of this debate. I use Imgur and theres a lot of "Black Twitter" dumps on there, I'm exposed to language on those that while hilarious in context, would seem racist coming from me out of context in public. its possible to be exposed to something and have it in your head without the intent of racism being behind it. ALL of us now have "Martin Luther Coon" fresh in our head from this discussion having written it a dozen times, and at some point we may now brain fart those words in public, the brain is an asshole. this is far more a "Hypothetical" so I'm not willing to die on this hill, just ... something to think about.
As I've spoken before all I really would ask for is more evidence before ruining the man, and you seem to agree with that on some level so I have no qualms with you on this subject as while we may not agree on the outcome we agree on at least the basis there should have been more investigation into him before judgment was passed.
is milkster the new nynja
I think milkster has less shame than nynja and nynja already barely had any to begin with.
So what if he's on for 2 minutes? That means he's on a time limit so he's trying to say what he needs to quickly. We've already showed you how it's possible to fuck up his name if you're talking quickly or assuming he didn't flub the word, how it could slip into his speech despite not thinking of MLK with any racism. You do you though, clearly this guy is the white devil.
I dont disagree that its alarming they fired him so quickly, but there is nuance like has he had issues before? Did he say wrong things to management in the immediate aftermath? It might be important to you that he have due process after his racist slip of the tongue, but there is a history of racism in this country and it is important for many people that people talking racist things be removed from their platform.
And to say his career is toast is a stretch. Dude has Al Roker defending him, and lives in a country where fox news is a thing. Hell cash out his PTO with his current company and move to another one where no one cares if you drop a coon, as long as it isnt on air where the advertisers can hear it.

People have been fired for things they've said on air and off air, on social media, etc. So why is this the line in the sand for people?
Christ's sake people. First of all, how many of you have been accidentily dropping slurs you've never used before that you think this is an issue?
Second of all, of course firing him was the right decision. Because otherwise they would be labeled as the news with the racist weatherguy regardless of whether or not he's actually racist. His job is ratings, and if you don't think dropping a slur on tv is going to hate ratings, then IDK what to tell you. Dude fucked up, this is what happens.
Bruh this right here.
Imagine if someone was trying to say "nipples" on air and instead said "niggers". This is the exact same thing. The words arent really similar, you really would have no reason to use that word in your life ever unless you were watching particular seasons of south park, and even if it was truly an accident, if ratings suffer than it doesnt matter and you have to go.
