I thought the ad was okay. The part that made me go "huh" was mostly the boys rough-housing. I don't really see that as an issue as long as they're not pounding the shit out of one another

Really though, the commercial I think was just a Anti-Bullying/Anti-Sexual-harassment message. Any complaints I have would be on verbiage and very minor, they don't detract from the messages core to me.

Oddly enough I don't have a issue with that so much as the entire "Boys will be Boys" buzz..."phrase"? Maybe I grew up in an exceptionally good environment, but despite my right-leaning red-neck ass cousins, and boy do i have a lot of them, 9 Siblings on my fathers side, each with kids, some married/divorced/remarried I grew up altogether with about 25~ Cousins and very packed family get togethers like Thanksgiving/Forth of July/etc... but I never experienced at any point in my childhood to today two kids on the ground beating the shit out of eachother or even "Rough housing" while adults stood back and said "Boys will be boys". That scene seemed like if anything a gross exaggeration of reality. Even when me and my brothers would get into what could loosely be considered a "fight" we were punished and told why that wasn't okay to do.

That doesn't detract from the Ads overall meaningful message for me though, to clarify. It was likely portrayed that way due to wanting to get the message of "Bullying" across as well as the tone of "dismissal" that some parents can have when it comes to these actions from their sons, combined with a short time to convey that said message meaningfully.

The main issue with any sort of anti-bullying campaign is that it's often just lip service. You get shit like Ivanka letting Trump be Trump. WWE has their Be A Star stuff, only for the Rock to roast a woman in-ring to fan applause. More generally, you'll get adults who won't give a shit because it's not their kid or they can't really act because it's not their kid. Then there's just the more general "snitches get stitches" mentality where kids just go on to silently suffer through whatever through fear of it all worsening if they speak out.

On the surface, it suggests the top down approach isn't and hasn't been working. Try as we might to set good examples, I'd say it's more up to kids and their subsequent generations to be the change. Yet, with the internet being what it is, ha ha, fuck that. Then get angry when actions have a consequence later.
