The narrative in the game seems at odds with what remotely happens with someone who's transgender. Someone who desires to express a different gender identity isn't doing it because they're not happy in general, its because their unhappiness is tied to body dysphoria. And the only way to address this is to transition to the gender identity that best suits this.
The narrative in the Erica ending implies that your character does something into the past to make Erica happy enough that they don't transition. Which implies that dysphoria isn't real or the real underlying reason why they transitioned. Which is a huge transphobic narrative.
And Resetera doesn't tolerate anti-trans narratives so you'll see threads like these end up with a lot of people getting the ban stick. Like the power lifting thread from awhile ago.
In any case. I'll wait to see what happens with the localization.
Erica's VA retweeted this and responded to the issue.

omg you said his name
I don't see the implication that the main character or Catherine made Erica happy enough to not transition. It could have been a conversation/incident(s) that just never happened or got delayed due to the new timeline since it was implied even in that ending that Erica was thinking of transitioning. Using the FG player Ricky Ortiz as an example, she came out as gay a while back and it wasn't until she had a conversation(s) with somebody that she realized she was trans. In any case, some of the posters started to backtrack their stance once more info started to get translated and context was given but others just wanna stay mad and are tinfoiling some off the wall interpretations.
One of the other VAs tweeted out to please wait till the localization is complete so everyone can get the full picture.
There is no "full picture," this is not something you play around with at all, at any level.
It's a situation where somebody transitions only if stuff goes a certain way. It plays into the narrative that trans people are damaged goods. Intensely triggering and traumatizing for a trans person to play this.
lol
can someone tldr this Catherine business for me my eyes keep glossing over the journalistic articles
You know when a literature teacher reads a book and maybe they'll interpret the color of a door the author describes as having some deep hidden meaning? How they interpret a detail with no evidence and make a leap of logic based on their own feelings and no evidence whatsoever to support the idea other than conjecture and guessing intentions? Its that. Game has trans person transitions in one ending and doesn't in another ending, no further implications, so of course theres implications. Making huge leaps and bounds based off speculation.
I'm just kinda surprised they made another one of these, or a rerelease, whatever the hell this "Catherine: Full Body" game is. Never played the first one, brother did though"my interpretation of why this happened based entirely off guessing the meaning behind it is the only right interpretation and just so happens that I find this incredibly offensive for someone else, and as the self righteous white person I need to express why i'm offended for those poor marginalized folk, so anyone who disagrees is a transphobic Hitler! dont @me".
Edit: In the sake of being fair, I can see where the "This is bad" side is coming from. I can understand that it can be interpreted as implying that Dysphoria is just not real or treating it like depression where people think "Just don't be sad anymore!" is actually a fucking cure for it. There's definitely a foundation to the outrage that I can understand. Though, I think at worst its insensitive, and perhaps a tone deaf. Like it was likely written by someone who doesn't have a deep understanding of the topic and probably just shouldn't have bothered.

Spoiler: show
This got more transphobic, with making Erica never transition being one of Catherine's different circumstances. In the original game, one ending revealed that Erica was trans, and this was handled poorly. Only men have the dreams, and she had them too...therefore by the game's logic, she was considered a "man". There was also that whole thing where Tobey lost his virginity with her and eveyrone basically turned it into a "haha you had sex with a man" transphobic "joke".Update:
Catherine does not explicitly state anything about "making everyone's lives better", however that is heavily implied. She wanted to be with Vincent under different circumstances. She took him back in time and dated him in high school, and they go on to get married years later, in the time when the game's events would have taken place in that timeline. At the wedding, almost everyone else's lives are improved. Paul, the guy that died at the beginning of the game in both this version and the original, is alive and dating Katherine. They are happy. Vincent and Catherine are happy together. Erica for some reason has not transitioned in this timeline, and we do not know if she will in this timeline. Tobey says that he wish he met a girl like that, referring to Catherine, and Erica (pre-transition) puts her arm around him and says "She may be closer than you think", as a "joke" about her having transitioned and dating Tobey in the other timeline.
There's also transphobia involving Rin. The thread wasn't originally about that, so I will spoiler that below.
Spoiler: show
Yo consent can be revoked at any time, dumb shit. It's not transphobic to change your mind about having intercourse after learning that the person you're in bed with has genitals that you're not interested in diddling. Don't shame people for it.
But for real it seems dumb. Not all trans people transition. Not all trans people who transition do so right away. Not all trans people who choose not to transition at any given time are inherently unhappy. It's a deeply personal decision that can be affected by any number of factors, not all of which are necessarily harmful.
All true weebs know that canon art for an untransitioned or pre-transition trans character is purely doujin fodder.
Student arrested after refusing to stand for the pledge

Scary as fuck.
Several other things happened between those though...

That said since when did we go from calling the kids parents when the admin can't deal with it to calling the cops?Lakeland police said in the news release that the student was not arrested for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. “This arrest was based on the student’s choice to disrupt the classroom, make threats and resisting the officer’s efforts to leave the classroom,” police said.
Also lol at a presumably adult teacher getting into a shouting match with an 11 year old. Just send him to the principal's office
The problem is, it sounds like the substitute teacher was the instigator and provoked him because he wouldn't stand. An 11 year old is not going to just say "ok ma'am" to that.
[edit]Also, yeah, when the fuck do we charge students for interrupting the classroom? Because I'm gonna be rich, bitch.
Police shouldn't be involved in anything relating to a 11 year old in a classroom unless there was violence.
Sort of. She certainly was the cause but seems like she didn't know the rules on it which is at least part on the school. Either way none of this should've escalated anywhere near this even if she had been right. Like oh no a little boy yells and calls you racists clearly a job for the police
edit: Actually now that I think about it the Dean was called in... who should've definitely known better and cleared things up but instead kept trying to remove him. Maybe the school is racist...
Substitute teachers don't get trained by individual schools here. They get a one hour seminar from the district, mostly explaining the job scheduling system, and are let loose unto the world. It's basically an adult babysitting gig and the pay, qualifications, and training all reflect that.
